Trent looked pretty shitty

Needs to think harder. We've grinded our starters into the ground previously and have inevitably had flat spots during the season

Need to take every opportunity to freshen up our key planks

Positives and negatives. Another clean sheet and two goals and 3 points is great but we havent really played particularly well in either game. In patches we have found some good football but nowhere near stringing 90 minutes together. It's expected though as we try to learn a new system and tactics under a new manager.

The big concern was TAA's reaction to coming off and then the conversation he had with Slot on the bench when it looked like that chat didnt help and TAA was clearly, very ****ing pissed off.

10 months left on his contract, if he doesnt get on with the new manager then he'll be playing for Real Madrid next season so that's concerning.

Very unprofessional. Then again they did the same under Klopp at times as well. They need to realize that the season is long as. We have faded away every time the last few seasons. Need to manage the players properly to minimize injuries and exhaustion so we can finish the season strong. The team comes before an individual desires to play every minute.

Our players are also so used to being cuddled and pampered by Klopp. Even when they cost the game with a stupid mistake, or at out of form. Slot is just as performance driven as Klopp, but his approach is different and old school which I like. If you play poorly, you will know about it. Can see a couple of our players sooking it up and wanting out by the end of next season.

Mo has gone off he freaking head multiple times over the years and he is still there.

When you're vice captain and 12 months left in your contract with no sign of re-signing, that isn't a good look

Good win though, I love boring routine wins, can't beat a good 2-0. The passing was great to watch, still teething issues but hopefully we can get better. Shame that they aren't backed in the market, but it is what it is

Trent needs to put his ego away. If he leaves he will regret it for a long time.

If he has one eye on Real Madrid. He will need to be careful what he wishes for. I tip that he will go the route of very good players, who go to La Liga and struggle to carry that form over. And then find themselves bouncing between mid tier teams across Europe.

Some players are a product of a certain system, and tactical set up. We get the best out of him with us. He has been up and down with England. And will likely get more exposed in Spain that has some very good players with pace and dribbling ability.

TAA plays midfield for England. He is also a naturally attacking player playing an absurdly defensive strategy for his national team.

I don't think you can draw anything from a player playing out of position and against his natural instincts for their national team.

Very valid point.

But still, he will need to weigh up the risk of becoming another Coutinho when he went to Barcelona. Will have zero sympathy for him if his career goes downhill if he leaves for Real.

Slot going over to talk to him was interesting. He obviously read the reaction straight away but it made me wonder if this wasn't a planned/talked about thing.

Do players get a "we'll rest you if we can" heads up beforehand?

Or are there too many variables to do this?

I would be shocked if it wasn't planned. We saw it last week as well that once we went 2 up Slot swapped Trent for Bradley. Slot would have done his due diligence and seen that overuse of players led to injuries and falling off the cliff late in the season. When there is a very capable backup in Bradley then it would be foolish to not use him.

Don’t get this attitude.
It’s a long season. Game was over.
Man United next.

Slot has to try and manage this squad given the owners haven’t even brought anyone. It’s refreshing tbh. Klopp played the same XI and it broke down early

TAA also played Euros. He was out for a long period of time last season.

Don’t really care if Real take him. He’s easy to exploit defensively. Real won’t take though.

Plus he doesn’t fit their system.
He’s an overrated defender and he won’t get the ball with Mbappe, Bellingham and Eder plus Vini. Not a chance
