Is your leading ruckman with dreadlocks being beaten by the Eagles' backup ruckman with dreadlocks?

in hit-outs in 2011?

Hawthorn - making Top 4 while rebuilding

I know Geelong might like to claim they are doing this too, but their success has been due to their senior players, which is why they remain the oldest side in the comp. Their youngsters have been fair to middling. No doubt Doris will be in here shortly, though.

Collingwood likewise have some youngsters, but again they are peripheral players. Sidebottom, Beams, Blair, Fasolo, great stuff but they get on the end of it rather than creating it.

Hawthorn however owe their form to their younger players. In fact its hard to remember another team that has had as much success on the back of their youngsters. The kids will be rewarded with a taste of finals action this year, and no doubt they will be up to that challenge, too.

Future looks good.

Re: Hawthorn - making Top 4 while rebuilding

This is a pretty lame attempt to prevent damage from your inevitable straight sets finals exit.

Re: Hawthorn - making Top 4 while rebuilding

OP looks like he is content with Top 4 knowing that Hawthorn are a mile off Geelong, who are even more behind Collingwood.

The average age of Hawthorn against Carlton was 25 Y, 115 D.
The average age of Collingwood's GF side against St. Kilda was 24 Y, 58 D.

Re: Hawthorn - making Top 4 while rebuilding

Making top four in 2011 looks like making top four in 2009 & 2010. That is it is only the top two that have a real chance, 3 & 4 are only there to lose the prelim.

How are you rebuilding when you have recruited:

Hale
Bruce
Gibson
Cheney
Burgoyne
Guerra
Paul Johnson

Looks like topping up to me

Re: Hawthorn - making Top 4 while rebuilding

How are you rebuilding if you won a premiership a couple of years ago with what half of the side who are
still playing today? nice troll attempt :)

Re: Hawthorn - making Top 4 while rebuilding

Is Ben Reid on the periphery?

Is Ben Reid on the periphery?

What about Dawes, Pendlebury, Thomas, Wellingham? I wonder if they'd be considered on the periphery, because they are certainly all young.

I think Dawes and Wellingham are those second level players that aren't driving the game while they develop, but do their job admirably... same with Toovey, Blair, Fosolo and Buckley.

Pendles, Thomas and Reid are dominating as they develop. Scary stuff
