Stupid show end up being a complete farce. No-one will care because they all got $1m for a few months work.
Same old shit with with Portelli deciding the winner. Auctions are a joke now, basically nothing to do with true market value, just his ego on where he wants to flex.
Wouldn’t have been upset if a light aircraft dropped on those auction rooms.
The hide of her having a cry because she was being excluded by a clique and copping the mean girls.I think Kylie and Brad are one of those couples who constantly break up and get back together. He is probably kicked out of home a couple of times a year.
That will be next season, most likely.Scotty and Shelly can't act. I think they knew it was coming.
I have said before it's a better result when at least one, whoever it is, misses out. It's a TV show afterall.
Agree, with the added communal shared amenities they had and the Block premium, I said to my wife as soon as they revealed the reserves the these were $3 million dollar houses and they were going to make a killing. As soon as their reserves had a 1 in front of them they were laughing.I don't know the Philip Island market but the Reserves seemed low this year. Brand new, fully furnished home for $2m seemed down from other years.

Plus, the true market value here is inflated because they are purchased by a guy who purchases them irrelevant to market rate, lottery auction houses bought by a billionaire is not a reflection of actual market value, he's an outlier buyer.
He really does ruin the real estate component of the show, market conditions they fluff on about are irrelevant when you have a guy who bids against himself to inflate the price, because he can.
Should put in a tattoo parlour, walk in wardrobe full of hoodies and an energy drink cellar. And makes the whole Judges commentary totally irrelevant from Ep 1 to last week

Ch9 showed their hand when they had the "depreciable value" challenge. Those reserves were an absolute joke.I don't know the Philip Island market but the Reserves seemed low this year. Brand new, fully furnished home for $2m seemed down from other years.
Yep - this is what ruins the show.Ch9 showed their hand when they had the "depreciable value" challenge. Those reserves were an absolute joke.
One person buying them all actually makes a lot of sense. It wouldn't surprise me if he kept these ones rather than putting them through the raffles. Much easier to manage given all of the common area facilities.
Pretty hollow "victory" for the girls when one bloke just decides who he likes the most and chucks cash at them.

Especially if you remember all the catfighting over the auction order, Courtney & Grant were rabid in pursuing that because they thought they had the best house (and would win if they went first when all the money was there). But, in the end, it was all for nothing, thanks to Portelli. It makes the whole process a bit useless.
Well ,well well. No,I'm not here to slag your pre auction thoughts because tbh,I thought pretty much the same as you .With all the vigorous debate about who would be first up etc,no one ( in the viewing audience ) would have guessed the crazy outcome but when we saw it,makes sense for that clever entrepreneur to buy the lot at whatever cost. The girls as lovely as they are,got extremely lucky as Adrian was not going to miss out on the last one at any cost. All the others were going to kill to be first up ! HahaIt will rate well tonight. If the Reserves are set accurately its hard to see anyone besides Grumpys winning more than say $200k.
I am sure the buyers agents will push them up but none of them appeared to be outstanding. Mimi and Kristian maybe given their point of difference.
I'll be annoyed if Kylie and Brad win anything but they will probably win a 100k.
Paying over 2.5million for that location and essentially very little space (regardless of how they want to sell it as resort living) is insane. Can get land that is not sharing with 4 other houses and a comparable place in Cowes for between 2 and 2.5. When the winner of the raffle takes the cash instead of the property they will be sold at significantly less than what was paid, but portelli would have covered his purchase so won’t care.I don't know the Philip Island market but the Reserves seemed low this year. Brand new, fully furnished home for $2m seemed down from other years.
And it's not just the "celebrity" bidders who engage in the auction process. What would 30 seconds to a minute of direct, in program, advertising be worth to the trucker hat bloke or the the gym junkie? I'll go out on a limb and assume neither of them ever had any intention of participating in the auction, just saw it as a good way to get talked about on prime-time TV without having to cough up any cash.Good on Adrian for doing what he did... I kinda respected that he did what he did with the girls, or at least at the direction of his missus, it was kinda vindication for them.
But the $3.5M bid.. kinda summarises that this show has turned in to a bit of a joke.
Sitting down to strategise with the puppet from domain.com.au about who the buyers are, what is happening in the area etc, is so considerably pointless now that they shouldn't even bother with it if they know that there are celebrity bidders registered. Perhaps they need to acknowledge this somehow moving forward, rather than pretending they're about to auction to a bunch of Mum & Dad buyers like some run of the mill Saturday morning auction.
Perhaps Adrian doesn't participate next year, but you can already see that people are cottoning on to the fact that they can bid/buy these properties simply for the exposure it brings their business. Will this continue to happen? It's likely.
