The Bulldogs and Umpires: Time for a Royal Commission?

Looking like a bog average team now that they aren't kissed on the dick by umps.
No wonder bevo was the one dissenting voice regarding the tighter "holding the ball" calls. The dogs have been one of the teams to most benefit from the AFLs focus on reducing stoppages by favouring the ball carrier.

I have also noticed umps have cottoned on to players dropping their knees and propelling themselves forward as soon as they feel a tackle from behind to get an "in the back" free. Probably coincides with macrae's drop off this season, he was a master of drawing that free.
Outside of last night, our recent form has been the best we’ve played since 2021. Umpires have nothing to do with it

Free kicks have been pretty much even in our last two wins, big wheels.

Irony that you should post this.

After round 15, 2024, perhaps there should be an inquiry into why the Suns are getting so looked after this season?

Perhaps it's time to stop this unhealthy obsession of yours?
Nah, I've moved on.

I don't think the umpiring has played a significant role in the Bulldog's fate for a while now.

Don't get me wrong, the staging is horrible still - but Hawthorn have them covered these days in that regard.

I only posted that screen shot cause I thought it was funny that Robbo was rolling with my hyperbolic title for his own article.

Umpires drop off.

Bulldogs drop off.

Probably a coincidence.

Essendon hires ex-AFL general manager.

Essendon has the best free kick ratio. Has only lost the free kick count in 3 of 16 games.

Essendon shoot up the ladder despite a percentage of less than 100, winning a bunch of tight games while winning the free kick count.

Probably a coincidence.

Nope. 100% carried by the umpires.

You realise the umpires have dropped their support for a while now right?
Isn't this the first year in Bevos tenure that we haven't been in the top 50% for free kick differential? And yet we are pretty much where we've been for large parts for the last 7 years.

We've won 3 finals in 7 years - which I realise would be mind blowing for an Essendon supporter but if that means to you that there's a correlation between umpiring and team success then you've got rocks in your head.

What a burn. You're so clever. 😍

Poor bulldogs. 😭 Umpires have abandoned them. Can't win anything now. Gotta rely on just playing well dammit.
Oh no! We’ve never done that before!

Remember when Clarko was having regular coffees with AFL staff, and the Hawks were being consulted on rule interpretations with the umpires using their trainings to practice?

Must just have been a coincidence that they got a ridiculous run from the umpires around that time.

Until the 2016 Grand Final happened.

Yeah, they stopped getting a ride from the umpires and now they’re a middle of the road. Like they were in 2016, but won the flag with significant assistance.

And this all happened...
