Just an idle thought I had while watching this week's game...

I'd absolutely kill to see stats for Owies competing outnumbered or isolated against a taller player vs others of his size, because a) we put it on his head an awful lot, and b) while we don't win some of the time, the ball seems to hit the deck more than it should when he's competing in the air.

Perhaps the coaches have access to something we don't which has us targetting him when Jack, Charlie or Harry aren't available.

He's one of those 'hates to lose' types. I appreciate that trait in our players.

So, my wife and I are are doing a big trip down to Melbourne town for the weekend of the Collingwood game.

We need recommendations to have the most Carlton day possible.

Which pub is the best, what tram should we take to the game. What tram/ train should we take to the best pub/bar for celebratory drinks post smashing the woods.

(We’re staying in Carlton)

All much appreciated

Could always head over to Preston Oval and watch as much of the ressies game as time will allow - they kick off at 1:05pm. Would be able to watch the first half and still leave time to get to the G with half an hour to spare.

So I reckon Patrick Cripps is now on approx 15-17 votes in a 6 game stretch. I wanted to see how that compares with the best stretches in AFL (from a Brownlow perspective). Voting for individual players has got higher in recent times, hence the recency bias in the below.

Kouta 2000 - 15 votes in 7 games
Judd 2010 - 15 Votes in 5 games (first 5 rounds). 30 votes total season
Swan 2011 - 13 votes in 5 games was his best run.
Dangerfield 2015 - Best run was 15 votes in 8 games.
Fyfe 2016 - 29 Votes in a 12 game stretch, including 17 votes in 6 games. Was on another planet for a time there.
Dusty 2017 - Best run was 13 Votes in 6 games.
Neale 2020 - Had 12 in 4 games and 13 in 5 games separately. Also got 31 votes in a shortened season.

How do we reckon Cripps' stretch ranks against the best ever? Fyfe at the start of 2016 was probably the best I can remember, and Cripps is bloody close to that. Dusty's 2017 was unbelievable but Fyfe was on track for 40 votes for a while there.

Great guns. Did not think of that!

its not an Owies thing, when fogarty was in the side we found him bursting out of fwd 50 just as much a shame we cant seem to get our taller players (who there are now hardly any left) to do those leads

From eye test, Fisher tends to bang it on top of the big forwards heads rather than the space in front of them.

Maybe I just notice the misses more.

I know I always cringe when he's got the ball 60-70m out.

Edit: score involvements means he was involved in the chain of possession that led to the score, rather than direct assists. The last kick inside 50 to a forward is where we often turn it over. For this reason I think goal assists is an important stat to consider.

How do you feel about Fisher on last couple of games?

Hey guys, will be going to the Carlton shop tomorrow with my little cousin to buy him some merchandise. It's his first time going, does anyone know if we would be allowed to tour inside the building?

I really wanna show him our 16 premierships on display, but I'm not sure they'll let us in with covid 19 being a thing now.

Naughton's hotel on royal parade would be a good start. They have some great old Carlton photos in the back part of the pub and of course its the sight sticks sang stand by your man at after 87. Also where all the boys went to after 95.
Also the food is top notch, great indoor/outdoor area, and good beers.

Go to Princes park have a look around, head down to Naughton's on the tram from there head into the city.

Pretty chuffed, my Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round Guernsey arrived in the mail.

Will be debut wearing it against The Swans !

Looks just like a piece of art. Probably our best one yet (and we have had a couple of rippers too)

Building development still going, so don't think they have them on display anywhere at the moment?
