Strategy The case for a third tall forward

And Schultz has two swans sitting on him the whole game. I think your suggestions make sense. Our coaching panel are looking more at run, but since that is really working well (sarcasm intended), why not try something different, like a second tall.

Dont talk to Ken about something different he has tunnel vision.

What's everyone's thoughts of playing Hombsch at CHF I love the way he hits packs and takes contested marks, I reckon he could become a handy link up forward. Jake Carlisle, Ben Reid, Harry Taylor, James Frawley, Daniel Merrett, are all examples of handy defenders becoming formidable forwards why don't we just take a punt

Trengove our only back who is competent up forward, both Carlile and Hombsch have been tried forward with no success

Only seen Shaw and Harvey a few times and both show promise... but I don't reckon either is ready yet.

In the games I've seen, Shaw has played more like a flanker than a tall. Hasn't presented himself or provided that tall option we're crying out for. Had a very dirty day yesterday. Didn't get near it.

Harvey spent a fair bit of time in the ruck yesterday. But he's got a bit of go about him.

I was stunned to see the Magpies forward 50 empty for large portions of the game...

Did you see Butcher play this year? And what role did he play?

Nah no point attempting to fix/change what isn't broken & mess with a very good young defender.

It depends on if one of our backs gets traded to bring in a forward it may be something we could try with Clurey but by that time one of Harvey or Shaw would've likely come on.

We can still play Carlile, Trengrove, Jonas, Oshea in defence. What do we have to lose

With our gameplan, why would any kpf want to come and play for us?
Why would any key forward want to waste their careers playing for GWS' reserves side knowing they're no hope of ever getting a game ahead of Cameron, Patton & Boyd?

Playing finals footy for us would be an attractive option for a lot of talls that aren't getting an opportunity.

When have we ever seen Hombsch up forward? If he ever did play there it would have been only for a limited amount of time. Not saying that he is the answer, but definitely can't suggest that it resulted in no success

Should be no problem with Hombsch having a pinch hit up forward during a game, he has a nice leap & can take a big grab.

I have never seen Hombsch play for us up forward. Only saw him play a quarter up forward for sturt last year
Played forward against Essendon last year and was horrendous. Obviously not his fault, but he had no idea what he was doing.
