How much does the thought of dieing scare you, out of ten?

Just wondering if it depresses people much?

People are gonna call me a freak for asking this.

No point in getting depressed over something that can't be avoided. Still I wouldn't like the prospect of burning to death or drowning etc.

This pretty much sums my feelings up.

Death itself, meh, we've all got to go.

However, the way in which I die is something that concerns me. Basically, I either want to know well in advance so that I can say my goodbyes and do some things I'd always wanted to. Or I'd want to just go instantly, so that I was totally unaware and not suffering.

The worst thing I could think of would be something like a plane crash from 30 000 feet, where you couldn't say goodbye to anyone or anything, but you had a few minutes to sit there and contemplate what was about to happen.

I feel so happy now.

I ask this question partly because i believe that it's the scariness of death that has made man invent god, to take the edge off the scariness of life ending forever thinking that there might be something afterwards. I believe that fear of death is fundamentally the reason for why man first invented the concept of an afterlife, and as time went on this invention developed factions and different ideals & beliefs, which in turn developed into different religions.

is 10 a lot or not much?

well when im sitting here in the computer its not very high, actually about 0, however when we were going sideways in a car at high speed with my door about to come into contact with a huge gum tree i'd say it was about 1000.

Absolutely. it's not so much when I'll go it's more how I'll go that bothers me.

And then, of course the $1M question.....What happens after I die?

Sheesh....Not meaning to open a whole other can of worms on those who believe or don't believe in reincarnation but I do often wonder that. But at the end of the day...I guess we'll all find out eventually ;)

I've heard that drowning is not that bad a death. For me the worst possible death would be to be taken by a crocodile.

Well, yeah, pretty much agree with all of that as one of the reasons anyway. IMO we die, that's it. Not particularly scared, or depressed about it (yet).

In the past 2 years i have had a brother commit sucide, and had a grandfather die whilst i sat with him with my parents. Death doesnt scare me, we are on a first name basis at the moment, and when my time comes it comes.

Death and what happens after it doesn't bother me - but it does make me a bit unfomfortable.

The way I see it there are only one or two options.

1) We cease to exist completely and never feel anything again.

2) We live on in some form - whether it be through spirit or physically (reincarnation).

Now niether of those sit comfrotably with me; the first option, because what happens for the next 70 million years. The whole world goes on while we're stuck 6 foot under and have no feeling at all.

the second option,b ecause time will go on forever, and we're gonna be around forever in some form - boy that's a long time to sit around and think about things.

I guess it's hard to explain, and it doens't bother me, and it doesn't get me depressed - I guess it just sits uncomfrotable and it makes me wonder what does apppen.

When I go out, I want to go out in style. Definately not dying in my sleep that's so passe. But it would be nothing tacky like donning a trenchcoat, climbing a clocktower and taking others with me.

Death is the ultimate purpose of our lives, if there is one.

All of the rest is merely filling in time.

Personally, when I go, I think I'll be pleased that I lived, rather than the alternative, about which I would have known nothing. Nor, for that matter, would have anyone else.

The reason I choose to live is because I'm a gig, who wants to know what happens next. I've never been tempted to leave a three-act play after the second act.

I certainly don't think this is a rehearsal.

Death and I were on a first name basis a few years ago - 5 relatives in two years. Thankfully he seems to have stopped calling.
