In 2008 we scored 2126 points, 2197 in 2009 and 1935 this year. And champ, for all your "attacking" footy under Knights, Essendon scored 2130 in 2008, 2080 in 2009 and 1930 points this season.

And please remember that we had our attacking focal point out injured for 12? weeks of an 22 week season. Add his missing 25 or so goals and we are back up around 2100 again.

So explain why you are so much more "attacking" than St Kilda because your scoreboard does not reflect this. You leak points like a sieve though.

That would be because our midfield is shit. But in comparision to other teams around us we score very heavily. Essendon were the highest scoring team outside the eight after finishing 14th. We scored 5 less points than the Saints this year despite only winning half as many games. A game style that leaks like a sieve is not what any group of supporters want. But I don't think too many neutral supporters would choose watching Sydney circa 2005 than Geelong at their peak. Fair enough assessment?

Collingwood play an intense physical energetic style of footy. Geelong played loose off each other with downhill skiing cheats that made hacks like Matthew Stokes stay out of jail

lol this from a bloke whos team is nothing more than a bunch of lurkers .

they dont go and get the ball or few do. no they massively utilise the interchange get numbers to contests and sit on play makers forcing turnovers with tackles. its this sort of set up that enables mick to play so many ordinary players. they are a blight on the game but it will only get worse the need to do away with the interchange or severley restricting it is long over due.

Like always, theres no wrong way to go about it, although the essendon, and to a lesser extent carlton, philosophy of all out attack seems to be more driven by defensive player shortages than any real attacking philosophy.

Carlton's style of play was pretty similar. The difference was that the Blues midfield won more battles than they lost. The Saints list lends itself to their style of play as their backs get exposed if the ball comes in quick. There wouldn't be too many teams that could potentially win a flag with Dawson as FB. When you have Hayes and co in the guts it makes sense to have lots of numbers around the ball and forces stoppages. I just don't want 15 St. Kilda clones to spring up over the next few years.

Collingwood may play the boundary, but they enter the F50 pretty much more than any other side, which is the definition of attacking football.
Despite Collingwood being marginally the second best defence this season, we were also the second highest scorers to Geelong, and probably could have been the highest scorers if it wasn't for such poor kicking. The Grand Final replay is the chance to kick straight.
