Buddy won a coleman medal? Buddy kicked over 100 goals in a season? Buddy has a premiership? Or is it that Buddy saves his best football for the real season rather than the NAB cup?

very nice and true - but still a mediocre fwd in a very good side all the same and will be remembered as such....

how will nick riewoldt be remembered? here, i'll help, he'll be remembered as a soft diving crybaby who failed time and time again when the saints needed him the most

Go and watch the tape of the 2007 final v Adelaide - see how Buddy goes with the pressure on.

Some players do have an edge on him, Lake for one is much stronger and uses his stregth well.

Personally I'd like to see Buddy run around the ground more and get rid of his opponents that way.

This thread was created as a troll so I'll get in the spirit of things . . .

There is a universe in which Riewoldt is better than Franklin, but it is not this one.

Riewoldt lacks the ability to kick 100 goals in a season. He also has no ability below his knees. Franklin has played but 5 seasons and is already acknowledged as the better player, with 2009 the only anomaly.

Even in a poor year Franklin kicked 67 goals, playing half of them as a midfield/fwd.

Riewoldt is a very consistently good, and occasionally brilliant CHF, but he is no Franklin. His clutch goal record is also very poor.

Let's just call this thread for what it is. A poorly disguised troll.

Send in the lolcats.

This thread is not a troll - but you are showing your insecurities.....

To say Riewoldt is no good below his knees is silly stuff......

To judge on goals alone is also bizarre for a CHF who most know has at his core strength a runnign capacity that takes him far and wide....

Riewoldt is consistently good - Franklin is not......thems the facts anyway you spin it.

Your last point is what this is about - well done.

I know Buddy hason occasions demonstrated he can run his opponents around...again, if he CAN do this....why wrestle Max Hudgtons/Brian Lakes of the world?

I can only assume he aint that sharp ole Buddy.

Dont know if you noticed mate, but Franklin wasnt out cold he moved up to half forward and got a fair few touches in the middle helping get the few clearences we got, not to mention 2 goal assits and one of his own at the end.

No need to have a go at the big man for being involved in 3-3 when the side only scored 50 odd points. Yes he was well below standard but when was the last time Riewoldt was involved in 3-3 on his worst night?

What a sad come back on a genuien footy discussion???

Buddy is a FF - Riewoldt plays CHF......FWIW I'd expect Buddy to kick more goals than Riewoldt - he cant leave the fwd 50 before blowing up FFS....Riewoldt is often deep in defence and on centre wing....do you go to the footy at all maaaaate???

I didnt start any comparisons on where Budy would be seen upon finishing his career...I merely responded to bizarre Hawk fans who went there.....

Your first point shows the stupidity doesnt it?...I mean IT IS SO OBVIOUS Buddy needs to get a tank (Im not sure it so easy for Riewoldt to suddenly develop break neck running speed......I'll leave you to guide us on that oracle).....but again, endurance CAN be worked on and as you say its so obvious.....so what does Buddy do????......he friggin wrestles....is this guy 23 or 2? DUMB.

I think its sad Hawk fans cant have a discussion on Buddy's obvious deficiencies and are so worried about anyone talking about them that instantly they want threads moved........strange...its a footy discussion on a footy forum??????....Im not sure Im the one who needs growing up.....maaaaatee.

deficiencies....every player has them....there isnt one that doesnt. yes, maybe he does wrestle more than he should, but he is backing his strength, and against 90% of defenders, he wins. but you are picking out his tank, and it isnt. do yourself a favour and go to a hawthorn game that doesnt include your mob and look at the running he does. your comparing him to probably the fittest player the game has seen, or in the top few anyway. take riewoldt out of it, and buddy is as fit as anyone out there, 100% guaranteed, and fitter than most. better still, go to hawthorn training session and watch him sprint 400m, jog 400m, sprint 400 jog 400 etc etc over and over, making elite midfielders look stupid. i have seen this with my own eyes , all of about, oh i dunno, 8 weeks ago. or, if you have time, log on to youtube and search 'buddy franklin'.....buddy is his nickname anyone who has a clue on footy knows this, so you probably only know him as lance.

but you enjoy watching riewoldt lead to the wings and taking his one or to pack marks a game. i will enjoy watching buddy running all over the ground, few bounces here and there, sidestepping players like they are cones, and getting close to kicking 100 goals again.

Here's another fact: Riewoldt has never kicked 100+ goals in a season, Buddy has. Can't spin it.

So what was his excuse earlier in the night when the Hawks were coming and only 18 pts down?

To cold? or umpires again?

Precious lot....:D

settle on tiger......Ive said all along Buddy is a great player but the bolded bit is where we differ...Buddy's strength IMHO is his great speed - its what sets him apart from all other fwd.....so he chooses to wrestle ???? (which IMHO IS a J Brown strength)

Thats it.

Dont get yourself so worked up.

BTW - you need to check some stats and see just how many marks N Riewioldt takes a game.....it aint 2....if it were that'd be a night like Budy just had.....

This will degenerate fast for sure :D

Agree to some extent but Franklin plays more like a FF and Riewoldt is a genuine old school CHF. At this stage of his career Franklin might enjoy the marking contest a bit much but they're two different types of players.

When he got done for hands in the back it said a LOT. Also an example of why the more traditional lead out roaming CHF playing in front doesnt get nearly as many paid against him and recieves a few extra's he's earnt...gotta use the rulebook if u can and Franklin must know he shouldnt be playing basketball from behind so often.

No reason to think he wont have a great season and kick 80+ when he's up and going soon.

too cold? i'm pretty sure thats the excuse you lot were using for saint nicks godawful gf showing

oh really? what was Stevie J's excuse ?

Your coach admitted you got lucky GF day - fair enough too you have to take your chances...your lot from 08 should know that better than anyone...its that loss which is why you wont be considered the equal of the greatest side Ive ever seen in the Lions from early 2000's.

Thats it?

Kinda like Buddy....outta gas?

Catch ya.:D:thumbsu:

not at all, but do ya think if he was playing dumb, or not doing what had been agreed on, the coach would leave him there doing it?? the ball came in there shit, and slow. there was no where to lead so he ended up being body on body with lake alot, and a 2nd or 3rd man more. you just dont see this, cause you dont understand.....or in other words...you are a knob.
