The first episode was so good I watched it twice.
Well maybe not that good but I watched it a 2nd time with subtitles because I was unclear on some of the language. A Martian is a duster
So I enjoyed it and as is typical of SyFy the actors were a bit stiff. I have learnt to forgive this and let them warm into their roles before being too harsh. Looks like we have 2 protagonists with the Ice Miner XO Holden and the Fedora wearing detective Miller.
At first I thought the guys visiting the Scopuli were the red shirts but I enjoyed the twist of having the entire Cant as the red shirters even if a little gruesome "eject the ice" would it have helped them though?
So the stealth ship is Martian? Looking to start a war over whatever secrets the Scopuli holds?
I enjoyed the way they showed how valuable water and air really are. At first I was like "Why would an ice mining ship be that big?" Then it dawns on you that water is the most precious thing in this universe and the costs don't really matter.
Of course a part of me really cringes at the amount of wasted space. Vaulted ceilings on a spaceship will never be done outside of scifi. It's just poor engineering and in space the laws of physics tell you that carrying around dead weight is stupid. I guess I just have to get over that tv studio scifi is always going to make things larger than they should be just for the "cool set" factor
I can't wait for the next episode.
