There was also the RUMOUR that Mr R/MLB's house had a basement. With the backyard driveway it'd certainly be concealed from neighbours if that was the truth. Drainage or removal of blood due to bleeding out would be a major concern if we're assuming that none of the deaths were accidental. Police searched Mr R's shop premises, I'm assuming they also searched his house? Can anyone confirm that with anything released so far?

Yes they did and sprayed the glow stuff and nothing

Still think these 5 victims had been held captive somewhere only the actual killers knew about.
and likely rented from an acquaintance/family member with no formal lease otherwise Bev and Denis' flat from the diary would have been assumedly outed by some random citizen over the years saying 'oh yeah, these guys used to pay me for some little place on blahblah street'. This one seems like it'll be impossible to ever trace.

pg 478. Public Trustee for Thora Von Einem? Anyone here more across the legal terms used? Looks to me like government detailing the estate of a woman with no children. I've heard rumours that she disowned Bevan at some point (no official story as yet) but I was under the belief that Bevan had other living siblings? Maybe I'm misinterpreting this document though. Legal minded geeks please speak up.
I believe nasty Bevan had a sibling or two; one brother at least. The bro followed SANFL, making it difficult for his club to get around the whole embarrassing situation.

I have never trusted anything Darko said about the weekend Alan went missing . I can’t get it out of my head that they both would start hiching a lift and Alan would tell him to go back home . The question to me is why would they both have gone that far the he (Darko ) turn back when they were about a 1/3 of the way to Salisbury . Both Alan and I had walked from Salisbury to footy park the year before hand and from the place he was meant to have been picked up it’s about a 1/3 of the way . So to tell Darko to go back dose not make sense to me and I just don’t see Alan saying that . The other thing is it just happens to be Darkos friends who see Alan hoping into a car when they only meet him once a night or two before hand . Does anyone else think that this is a bit funny to them ?

I’m with you Charlie, amazing coincidence that Darko’s mate was one of the only people (on a major road) who allegedly saw Alan getting into a car. He did however live in the area at the time.

Plenty of places rented without a 'formal lease' in that era. Nothing in writing, paid cash to the landlord when they dropped around, no bond etc.

I just want to put this out there !!! I don’t think Alan was the first victim I do believe that there was others probably within the gay community or even hick hikers from interstate. There are so many missing people still unaccounted for in that time period from here and interstate that it could well be a lot bigger body count

Below is a link to Stephen Woodards Good Reads profile which shows the book he is currently reading (2015) and the book he next wants to read. Below is also the keywords for the type of books these two are categorized in. The book I previewed and read myself and its sickening to think a bloke who is a suspect in this case is reading books like this.
Yes it's his profile, I wont go into how I know this.

Norwood supports I believe

Fascinating to see that Norwood has two Von Einems who played for them (Victor VE 1920-21 and Ray VE 1955-56, 58). Amazing to think that all it takes is one person to ruin and tarnish a name. They need a new player to retake the name for the general public although I don't think I'll be one of the first people to wear the name Von Einem on the back of a guernsey. Not just yet.

It's certainly possible. Reading Brian Masters' book on Denis Nilsen and it sounds like a good majority of his confessed victims weren't noticed as missing in the system and still a bunch of them are 'unknowns'.

Out of interest re: the court case grilling of Mr B (I still don't understand why he was grilled about the Beaumonts statement when he was just saying what he was told then, not what he had further facts on) - did they search Bevan and Mr R's properties/businesses for any film/video cameras/materials seeing as Mr B directly mentioned videoing at one point?

There was no Video or pictures found anywhere . The reason for going at B over the Beaumont statement was that if they could get him in a lie then everything he says is a lie . Bs statement’s are about 50 % true and I believe if you want a better account of what happened look up Bs sister’s statement .

Do you know if they mentioned whether anyone actually owned video cameras (I'm guessing Mr B used the word 'video' as in popular parlance at the time when they would have been referring to a film camera based on the era)?

The Beaumont statement was just Mr B stating that he had been told by Bevan about the Beaumonts, not that he himself knew anything so it really only could prove that Bevan was lying or potentially that Mr B had made up the Beaumont thing (if that was the case then it couldn't be proved to be fabrication or not). I have only read short descriptions of his sister's statement ultimately implying that he told her that he witnessed a murder at the time and she didn't believe it because he lies a lot. Did she go any further?

I remember that you mentioned his eyes popped out when Mr B entered the court room - don't court cases have to state all their witnesses and people making statements at the beginning of the trial in advance?

One there were no videos or video cameras found .
Two the Beaumont thing was to show more that B was making thing up .
Three When I say light up he looked very pissed off . Bve that is . I didn’t think he would have been surprised because b made statements in Richerd’s murder case .
All in all ve hated B and B bid tell about 50 % of the truth on the stand . Others here do have Bs sister’s statement they can help you with it .

From memory, there was a Von Einem who was 1 of the leading players in the SA Amateur League about 30 or so years ago

First name may jave been Greg(?).

I heard at one stage that he was BVE's nephew, but I'm not certain of this.

Ray Von Einem played for Norwood in the 50s or 60´s

There are differing versions.
http://netk.net.au/SA/SA37.asp This is an old article by Nigel Hunt in The Advertiser saying he died in Sydney several years ago. This is the only reference to his death that I can find.

I’ve been digging and can’t find any death, funeral, memorial, cremation etc records anywhere.

Another version is that he is not dead and the name that is commonly mentioned for him is incorrect. He is thought to have been in Sydney at some stage, then there is mention of him driving buses in Queensland. This is info from various media reports with no sources available.

It is also possible (no proof at all, this is pure speculation) that he has changed his name or is in witness protection.
Mr B is still very much alive. His initials are RB and he still lives in South Australia

I was picked up late one evening by von Einem near the Victor Richardson gates of the Adelaide Oval. I was trying to get home and wondering if there was one more bus or to hitch. I stuck out my thumb and a car squealed out of the car park. I was wary as I had hitched a lot even though I was only 16 or 17 and having been picked up by a “****ta”(that’s what we called them) who made a pass at me tried to suss the drivers out. I also had a thing of not accepting rides from anyone who didn’t just drive past randomly going my way. But I saw he had a woman in the car and thought should be OK though I remember thinking wow she sure is ugly. He offered me a beer but I had gotten into yoga and meditation and was essentially a straight edger before that was even a thing. He had an esky somewhere between the bucket seats and back and pulled out a beer. He opened it and fussed with it between his legs and passed it back to me. I thought what the heck and just held on to it. I lived in Prospect on the edge of the parklands and said you can drop me at the lights. He asked where do you live? I just kept repeating just down the road when he kept asking. I handed him the beer and the trans let me out- it must have been a hatchback or maybe the door was broken. I was relieved when I got out. Then he did a ewey at the lights and headed back to town. That’s when I knew something wasn’t right.

Years later I was visiting my mother- I lived abroad- and he came on the news. She said- have you heard about this? Kelvin was snatched where I had my paper run once. North Adelaide was our shops. Von Einem’s picture as a court sketch came up on the screen. I said: that’s the guy that picked me up one night! Exact same high brow, leaning forward as over the steering wheel. Square thick rimmed glasses.

I was one of the ones that got away…
