carlton dont have any choice but to get rid of fev. the way he was carrying on and showing a lack of respect for judd is not a good example for the younger players. you could see that all the people around him were feeling really uncomfortable around him because of his drunken behaviour.

In the US some star players get away with all sorts of behaviour but if they're needed in the team and aren't hurting it they're not going to ship them away because of some 'away from the game' rubbish.

I don't necessarily agree with the media reaction. As a member of the public I honestly don't care what people get up to as long as people aren't being hurt or it's having a massive adverse affect on the community.

That being said, they guy is a bit of a poison IMHO on a footy club. If I was at Carlton I'd be wanting to get rid of him too. I certainly hope North aren't entertaining the thought of getting him. Plenty of people have said that Fevola has a good heart and they may be right. I just don't think football clubs should be in the long term business of rehab.

People will often laugh at Hawthorn for getting rid of the above mentioned G.Ablett senior just before he became such a great player - but they won 5 flags in the time he was at Geelong, when they won 0.

Some EXTREEMELY selective thinking here....an overreaction??? Make no mistake...this was an extreem underreaction in that Carlton allowed it to get to this point, whereas most clubs would have ****ed him off years ago.

Firstly, all the douche bags who keep listing or suggesting that the grab shown on the footy show wasn't that bad...we know.
Please stop conveniently forgetting to mention that all the really bad stuff was edited out, or off camera. It just makes you look silly.

And secondly, please stop suggesting that he's been given the boot for this alone. If a criminal gets a life sentance after serving time, then reoffending over and over again, it is ludacris to suggest he's sentanced harshly without mentioning the numerous other convictions...this is the same principal, and is as obvious as dog's balls...again, it makes you look silly.

And thirdly, there's all the other stuff over the years, some relating to on field behaviour and some to off field behaviour that was all behind closed doors, that the club has for some reason tolerated, no doubt on many occasions.

I think it's fair to say any club (but especially Carlton who have a history of cover ups and have been run by theives and liars for a fair chunk of the last 25 odd years) would not just get rid of a gun player of his ability will nilly...they would HAVE to have many very good reasons.

Imo, the main reason being, that it has finally become apparent to them, what a lot of punters and experts have been saying for a few years....that Carlton cannot win a flag with a bloke like that at the centre of attention of the club. It's a team game.

The forward line has become way too one dimentional, and judging by the hoards of imbisile fans saying they're throwing away their memberships, so was the club and supporter base too.

For once in the last 25 years, i say well done to Carlton for making the hard call, and heaven forbid, actually doing the right thing.

Yeah my main point is that I reckon the connectedness and teamwork
is the 23rd, 24th and 25th player out on the field and trancends the
brilliance of any one player. Anyone who erodes that should be moved
on, regardless of how brilliant they are. Selfishness is just so destructive.

Maybe sometimes the core group can be so powerfull and influential
that they may over-ride a more self-centered player, as could have been the case with the '80's Hawks and as was probably the case with Brisbane and Acker. But in a rebuilding team it'd be pretty hard.

The people in the meadia are all overreacting beacuse they have a nervous, twitchy fingered disposition. In any case whatever Carlton Blues do they will be in a no win situation. In the first degree, if they trade him- which is a complete madness of judgement- they will not have a potent forward line, from where I sit, and in the second degree, if they can not make a trade possible and the draft is not a success and they wind up retaining him, the media ravens and vultures will get on thier case once again.

To sum up what I've said the bleeding-hearted media gives a hue and cry over this when there is way more pressing issues at hand, like the Samoan Earthquake/Tsunami which have killed many lives.
