Starting this now to discuss some of the bizarre stories circulating.

First one: Tension between Khawaja and Queensland builds ahead of Shield final

That is the CricInfo article and there are similar versions of the story in the SMH, Australian and News.com. It is bizarre that he would be at the F1 last weekend instead of playing, given his absence was due to a hamstring injury.

Second one (which I had hoped to find an opening on one of the football forums): AFL and cricket tug-of-war takes sour turn as 'galling' cash grab lights fuse

So basically the Crows wanted money to allow the final to be played at Adelaide Oval right before their fixture. TBH I cannot blame them for trying but are they really that cash strapped? If you hear the audio from the SA premier the question was clearly set up. A hilarious smackdown of the Crows given he is a Port supporter.

Anyway, share your tips and predictions. You would have to say SA start favourites, but they are known for stuffing this type of thing up.

Ian Healy has always had dogshit opinions, he is one of the worst commentators ever, and the rest of it is very poor management from QLD cricket.
Poor management from Qld cricket maybe ....but this isn't just about ussie....all season we have had CA/Testplayers not playing shield games when available or being forced to sit out games when fit management policy etc .....and the states are getting pissed off.....I have no issue with Joe Dawes saying what he said....the communication from CA when it comes to injuries is just plain dogshit....we the public are not mugs

It's funny that Cummins who was injured along with mitch and hazelwood are all good to go come the IPL....funny that

Shield season is waaaaaay too long, first game was 8th of October and will finish at the end of March - so nearly 8 months long.

Should have the season over before AFL starts back up so there’s no issue on ground availability.

That's exactly 6 months dude. October, November, December, January, February, March. Nowhere near 8 months

Why Khawaja was at the F1 is a fair question to ask until you realise CA's availability policy has no rhyme or reason.

I'm just surprised there hasn't be miscommunication like this already

The maths is wrong but I do think they should try to finish earlier so they have access to the main cricket grounds but also have it finished before the IPL starts. Based on the FTP, there won't be any national team players available for the next couple of shield finals, but having it run into the IPL potentially takes an extra few players out, and it would be great to avoid that.

*Truth be known, I'd prefer the AFL to start later, but until that happens, you make the best of the hand you're dealt.

The 1st innings BP strategy, particularly when the teams are batting, will be fascinating.

I don't really like it as a decider.

I guess if you host you just have to prepare a results pitch.

Looks like the shield finals have been pretty one sided since they made the change.

KRO is usually an absolute road but you'd think they would have to spice it up a bit so it doesn't just come down to 1st innings points.

I disagree. It's better long term to have a full 10 game fixture for me. The final being at the secondary ground is no problem for me.
