Just for giggles: what if our entire solar system is just a single atom?
We allocate the sun as the proton, the earth, venus and mercury as neutrons within the nucleus and the remaining planets the orbiting electrons.
Like the single ATOM there is significant debate about movement within the nucleus but general agreement about the electrons moving around.
Then the milky way atoms are something like a single leaf, the other galaxies adjoining leafs held together by an invisible branch and this branch is what astro-physicist have called dark matter. And like a tree the leaves, branch and stem are growing giving the appearance from any single atom of expansion and new galaxies as new leafs begin to sprout.
