Prediction The future of Fasolo

Wasnt he rumoured to be leaving last year?
If were not playing him why did we keep him
I like fasolo so dissapointed at whats goin on

With his mental health issues last season, it is rumoured that the club was happy to explore a trade for him back to WA if that was going to be beneficial to his health. WCE were apparently receptive to the prospect. Faz opted to remain at the Pies. If there hadn't been the mental health issues I doubt the Pies would have been exploring a trade for Faz but I'm sure he appreciated that they'd do what was in his best interests.

I'll happily jump to another conclusion... Bucks clearly rates Crocker and his attitude over Faz, whilst Elliott is still due back, Stephenson has leapt ahead of him, and Murphy could also play the third tall forward role... and is on a steep learning curve. So I could easily see Faz delisted at year end, as both west coast clubs would know that they could get him for free.

Bucks is all about people who desperately want to be part of the program... so if he doesn't, bye bye
I can’t see how you could rate Crocker over Fas, I think with Fas like a lot of enigmatic forwards it’s about making them earn their spot to get the best out of them. He also had an injury interupted preseason, time in the 2’s was always going to be the way. Again we don’t know what’s happening with in the four walls, and also within Fas’ head on paper though Fas far superior to Crocker and with his speed can apply more forward pressure than Crock which is what Buckley rates above anything else

So far this season we have hit 100 points or more 50% of the time. If we keep that up we will find ourselves in the finals. We have achieved this by finding multiple options to goal from the our half forwards and mids. I agree that Elliott is important but I’m not convinced both he and Fasolo are effective in the same forward line.

It’s a long season and Fas will get his chance, but at the moment he is not in the best side.
Last time we played Essendon we had Fas 4 goals and Elliott 3 from memory.

I think this board can be very hot and cold on players.

When Fas was out a few weeks ago injured we were lamenting how we are missing Fas. Then we win two games with him in the reserves and we want to trade him.

Fas is the epitome of hot and cold, but when he's on he's a ripper. He's clearly down the pecking order right now, but that can change very quickly. A couple of quiet games from the likes of Crocker, Brown or Stephenson and you'd say he'd be straight in, especially with Elliott out injured. He was our highest goal scorer in 2016 and can be a real match winner. He had off season surgery. I'm backing him in to come in and play a role when he is ready.

Keep!

Come on Gimp, we rely on your intuition and in built nous.
I just assume you know all this stuff.

Remember I told you 3 yrs ago about Grundy being a high possession winner cause of his long torso and short legs effectively playing as a midfielder.. see??

Thats genius right there.

All my predictions on players are pretty much on the mark. Just an eagle eye I suppose.

I would like to see us get a few games into Fasolo, he is coming back from a shoulder and it can take some time to get the full strength back in it. He does need to put some pressure on selection byu delivering in the two's.

I don't think he is finished at Collingwood and with some luck he forces his way back.

If it was a choice a fit Fas or a fit Elliott, Elliott wins IMHO

What a sad thread.
To be discussing the future of one of our most exciting forwards before he’s had the opportunity to play in the firsts this year - due to recovery from surgery - is really disrespectful. The Club is damned if they do and damned if they don’t; bring him back too early and he gets re-injured (imagine the outcry!) or let him get some fitness and have people say he’s out of favour and will be traded!
It’s round 5 out of a very long season:rolleyes:

I hope he doesn’t read this forum:eek:

Glad someone brought that up. I agree with much of the sentiment on this thread - but get the feeling the club will consider very closely what the Faz-man wants to do. **I still see a place for him, but maybe later in the season.

He is not the Only Player being Talked about that

It’s not disrespectful at all.

FFS far too early to talk trade.

Right now Stephenson + Thomas are playing well.

Elliot next cab off the rank than Fasolo (who will get an opportunity soon=injury, form, team balance etc)

If he wants to go @ end of year good on him. He's call as a FA and career is a limited thing.

IMO Very dangerous and could cause a few issues late in the year.

It still doesn't make it right Dave.....that's M G's point.

What’s wrong about discussing a player’s future? No one has shown any disrespect as far as I can tell.

It’s not disrespectful at all.
In your OP you say he appears ‘on the outer’ and you think ‘a move back to WA is on the cards’
What do you base these assumptions on?

He elected to stay with Collingwood and by all accounts is happy and feels supported there, so just because he hasn’t reached AFL match fitness yet is it really necessary to talk about his future in this way?

It’s actually good that other young guys are getting some experience and playing really well, and we don’t have to rush him back. The despair at the beginning of the year with both Fas and Elliot out was palpable but we’re discovering some surprising talent.
I, for one, just don’t like this damaging speculation based on nothing. That to me is disrespectful

I think he is on the outer, and I base that on him not being in the team. He’s out of contract so will certainly be a player who is speculated about. Moving back to WA is the most likely.

I recall GC saying that Schazza was also outside the best 22 before round 1. Was that disrespectful?

Fasolo has elevated his game these past two seasons IMO and was in career best form.

He averaged 2 goals a game in 2016 and 3 shots on goal last season and did this in a bottom 8 side that lacked ability transferring the ball inside 50 with any great skill level.

He's still our second best proven goal kicker and will remain so until someone else shows otherwise.

He's done enough in his career to be given first crack and should be recalled ahead of most others until or if his form proves poor at AFL level.
