Condit has a pretty good ground game, good send up, but as has been mentioned, his take down defence hasn't been his best feature. All that being said, he shook Lawler off a few times. Maia has only been hit something like 3 times in his lat 2 fights, which have gone the distance. I think that it's a fun fight for the MMA nerds, I'd be happy if it was the number 1 contender fight after Wonderboy.

Tried watching an episode of MMA Beat, Ariel is good, but is there any bigger lemon sucker than Luke Thomas?
I love luke thomas. a few years ago his attitude rubbed me the wrong way but now i find it hilarious. I dont agree with everything he says but i like how he doesnt have a filter.

His breakdowns are informative and entertaining. A mix thats hard to come by, and robin black doesnt count.

The MMA Beat is good, and Luke can be at times too. Luke talks way too much, but he's not an idiot. I like him because he offers a different opinion and gives you something to think about. He used to spew venom for the UFC but he's become more balanced, if you can believe it.

Chuck is also great value.

Must have got him on an off day then, I get the critisisms of TUF but he was ripping into it in a rather OTT fashion calling the death of it, but then 2 mins later isn't sure if it could go another 10 years.

Was actually surprised that none of them watched it either, bit like footy journos here that you would think they would watch everything at their disposal.

I think Luke makes a lot of valid points about things but sometimes can go OTT a bit too much for the sake of it. Can be a bit off putting if you're looking for a more clinical type show.

I do laugh at his hate for pro wrestling though, that is something else :p

So Cowboy Cerrone went and dropped the 3 letter homophobic slur on the weekend. I'm pretty sure that the comments were sponsored by Budweiser, but he later apologised.

While I don't condone what he said, particularly in light of some of the things happening in the US of late, you've gotta appreciate the Internet.

Here's one from someone who works at the photo shop image.jpeg

So Will Brooks, current Belator champion comes into the UFC on the exact same contract as Sage Northcutt ($50k + $50K). Of the fighters that fought this weekend, he beats so many of them.

T.J. Dillashaw ($25,000 + $25,000 = $50,000)
Raphael Assuncao ($42,000)
Julianna Pena ($32,000 + $32,000 = $64,000)
Cat Zingano ($35,000)
Thiago Santos ($28,000)
Derrick Lewis ($33,000 + $33,000 = $66,000)
Alan Jouban ($24,000 + $24,000 = $48,000)
Joseph Duffy ($20,000 + $20,000)
Will Brooks ($50,000 + $50,000 = $100,000)
Doo Ho Choi ($12,000 + $12,000 = $24,000)
Thiago Tavares ($37,000)
Gray Maynard ($48,000 + $48,000 = $96,000)
Kevin Lee ($27,000 + $27,000 = $54,000)
Jake Matthews ($22,000)

I'd love to see the UFC make a Sage vs Miller/Lauzon fight :D

I'm not hating on Sage, he's getting what he can and that's fine, but boy these guys need better representation.

Gotta feel for guys like TJ and Duffy.

How is a guy like Doo Ho Choi supposed to get by on just $24,000 when he's only averaging a fight a year? I understand he has had some injury troubles in the past but the UFC really need to give the kid a fight. I honestly think he is a top 15 fighter in the division right now.

A lot of the guys will scrape a living together teaching classes, working at a gym and from personal sponsorships. Being Korean he may have an advantage as the number of Korean fighters in the UFC right now is low so he should potentially have access to more sponsors.

I agree that he's likely a top 15 fighter though and that he should be given another fight ASAP.

I just don't understand how Northcutt gets double what Dillashaw gets. Northcutt is barely beating some of the worst fighters in his division. Dillashaw is clearly beating top guys and came extremely close to beating Cruz.

Are lots of people watching because of Northcutt? I just don't see why they would be. And even if they are it's got to be because the UFC is pushing him so much. It doesn't make sense to hate on Northcutt for this because it's good to actually see a fighter getting what they deserve (or more than they deserve) for once. It's just that he's so much worse than fighters he's making a lot more than.

I've just got to come to terms with the fact that MMA isn't really a sport. It's more like pro wrestling than it is basketball. The results aren't predetermined in MMA, but it's so much closer to sports entertainment than it is a pure sport. Dan Henderson getting a title shot perfectly represents what MMA is and so be it.

This will be harder to stomach. Cruz, the dominate UFC champion and top 10 P4P fighters in the UFC, gets $5,000 more than Sage, but Sage has a Reebok deal.

No wonder McGregor was fighing and saying that he doesn't get paid to promote, imagine being Cruz and seeing Sage's pay after all the media he does on top of normal.

Yeah it's hard to take it seriously that Northcutt got almost as much as Cruz did for his fight with Dillashaw. It's worth noting that Cruz did get a lot more for his fight with Faber at UFC 199. He got $350,000 to show with no win bonus.

Dillashaw got $70,000 for his fight with Cruz. It seems likely that he was on 70 to show and 70 to win. Then he just barely comes up short against Cruz and in his next fight it's reduced to 25 and 25. Big drop after such a close fight with Cruz.

That's what I don't get. I was under the impression that a lot of their pay was determined by contractual agreements and their were certain "levels" of contracts but then you see such discrepancies between their pay and that just can't be the case. How are these pays determined?

There are champion clauses I believe. If a fighter is signed up at $40k to show and $40k to win, that may be bumped up to $100k to show in a title fight and $250k to show as champion. I seriously doubt Dillashaw would have signed a contract after his last fight for $25k to show. I would guess that this was his salary prior to upsetting Barao for the belt and he hasn't had a chance to re-negociate yet.
