The good thing about Hyde

Ease off 1980.... the guy posted something that none of us knew, which is more than you have done in response. read his first post again and you will see that he has mentioned that he also agrees that Hyde's days are numbered.

This is entirely consistent with all the hero supporters that thought we should keep Frawley as a coach because he was a nice guy!!!!!!

And that Johnson deserves to be captain because he does a lot of good things around the club, even though he never shows leadership on the ground

LLLLFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOO @ Hyde.

LLLLLMMMMMFFFFFFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAOOO @ supporters that get off on pretty stories about players that cant play and hold the club back

LMAO @ U PJ getting all fluffy over it because its an "inside" story

all i know is what happens on the field. Running 15 kms is what happened...I can run 15 km and i can then lick everyone's arse with a speech...big ____ing deal....when are you dudes going to get out of this ridiculous...suburban footy mentality....this is the proffesional footy FFS...and not about pie nights etc etc....why doesnt he retire and get hired as the motivational expert then?

I mean FFS, i have no talent, i have limited shelf life in the this game, how do i extend my career in a team that is shit? I know, i will do all the clubman things and then i to can win the terence marini hairstyle for clubman of the year...;)

Cogga - as per my post to 1980, I think you are misreading what he said.

Some people like to hear about things that otherwise they would not have know. Nobody here has suggested that he be given more games than he currently gets.

Not every thread on this board has to be gloom and doom and bagging the club - a balance makes for enjoyable reading for everyone.

whatever 1980 - you are bringing up Frawley and Johnson.

I am not going to defend Hyde because as i said in my original reply to the thread i don't think he is up to it.

But i will defend the thread because clearly from some of the replies people have found it interesting. To just bag the guy who started the thread because you agree hyde is not up to standard is poor form i reckon.

I'm plenty real enough Cogga. Playing him on Goodes was a mistake. Christ playing anyone at RFC on Goodes is a mistake right now unless you can point out who we should have used because I cant find one. Poor bastard drew true short straw. He did a job on Green yesterday and thats his role. No role match up, then its back to Coburg but yesterday he had one and did it well.

If you were to be critical of anyone yesterday it was our other tagger in White who got belted by Cameron Bruce which almost, IMHO, cost us the game. Whitey did some OK things himself but Bruce did as he pleased. I dont think tagging is White's go.

me is getting real dude....i was down the coast "enjoying" the day...so cant comment on what happened...but i can comment on what has been happening for the last how many years.....we have to many tigerheads stuck in the rut, where they use off field stuff as a way to suggest that players can do what we need them to do. We will never move forward with players that can only do "one" job, once every 3 weeks or so....me is kind of over the crap that keeps on keeping on with this team. ;)

I actually think thats how we are moving forward and where the game itself is going. Gone are the days of picking your 22 best and that staying unchanged all season. Its about match ups and role players more and more so quite a few players are going to have to learn to get games in fits and starts. Hyde isnt any star but he can play a role liek a few others on our list.

naaa, those days are still here, i.e. the cats, dawks etc...they pick the best team and let "triers" like us, try to match them.
You tend to say what you say when you are just another tryer, trying to make up numbers...but in the end are found wanting when trying is all you can do...which gets you a gig in the tiger line up. ;)

I think Hyde is one who has gotten the most out of his limited ability. He lived with my uncle in his first year when he came down from Barooga and he was very meticulous about everything he ate and absolutely ran himself into the ground. My uncle would always say that if he does not make it, it would not be from a lack of trying. He is a really nice bloke who has a penchant for pig shooting. He was also in awe of how good Coughlan was that first year. He said that he would be a superstar and he was right until injuries of course.

i think his finished
unfortunately think the sick head clash a few years back affected his hardness at the footy
not sure he has a role in our side
maybe another team will take him, hope so for his sake From all reports a great bloke

You find it funny when someone has the same opinion as you do?

I find it funny that you don't understand the thread.

Most other people did.

Good to see Chris hasn't lost his desire after playing with us for so long now.
Contrary to the negativity around here, having that kind of attitude can only be a good thing for the club.
It's a shame some of our players are treated like a commodity by supporters when a player like Chris has a real desire for this club to be successful. I would have thought that's what we all want .

The thread was your pathetic and transparent attempt to shame supporters for getting stuck into Hyde.

Hyde is not some kid running around. He's been there many years, and at this stage of his career, you'd expect him to at least be capable to do a job every week.

So dont give me the he tries his hardest for the club routine. He's never shown any shred of passion on the ground. Nor any of your professed sick of losing attitude. If he had one thousandth of the passion the supporters have he'd be a better player instead of a waste of time. He's been a coaster happy to be in and out of Coburg.

And you're just a club stooge. Some of us expect better from players that have been at the club long enough to have made a difference.

Very very harsh. Enjoyed the OP. Chris Hyde may not be there next year but it won't be for a lack of passion.

I agreed with this very comment in the OP, check out www.englishfordummies.com for short courses on reading comprehension.

He's never shown any shred of passion on the ground.

He's backed into more packs than Deledio, Cotchin, Tambling, Foley and more.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe he survived the first few list cullings because of his passion?

He's been a coaster happy to be in and out of Coburg.

Then why did he motivate the boys with a "I'm sick of being crap" speech?

Because he's happy being below par?

And you're just a club stooge. Some of us expect better from players that have been at the club long enough to have made a difference.

Once again insulting someone who agrees with you general opinion

Go argue with the grass that doesn't appear to grow.

Well your uncle was right , it been 8 years and it hasn't been from lack of trying because he hasn't made it. The first 4 years we thought he might have potential and the last 4 have just been taking the piss.

If he's lucky Freo will pick him up. I think he'll look great in Purple

I think the problem is that too many people have a simplistic view of the team balance that every team has to deal with.

It is the fact that you can't have players rated 10/10 on every position on the ground.

It seems that many of the people who got upset at the original post expect that a player must be either a champion, a junior who gets cut some slack, or a complete dud who deserves to be punished for not being a champion.

There's bigger things to worry about than whether Chris Hyde deserves to get a game.

If he doesn't do enough he'll be cut at the end of the year (depending on his contract I guess).

Plenty of worse players than Chris Hyde have got premiership medals. What does that tell all you guys who got upset at the first post? And i'm not trying to invite a flame war. Have a think about it.

Such as why we endlessly persist with players that other clubs would have cut.

Its not doing the club any good for Hyde to be taking Polo's spot against the Demons, or Tivendale taking the spot from another kid the week before.

Most supporters would rather see a kid given game time this year rather than the same failed players that have given us plenty of wooden spoons for the cause of so called team balance

So how many kids would you have liked to have seen play yesterday? Would that have improved our chances of winning?

Maybe guys like Ben Marsh or Clay Sampson or any other ordinary player should not have been named in premiership teams, but should have been replaced by a kid.

Did you pick us to win the premiership this year? If you didnt, then maybe you'd agree getting game time into younger players is a high priority this year.

I'd much rather see Polo given a chance to cement his place in the team than Hyde given another chance to prove he is not worth keeping on the list next season.

I still remember that night at the dome where Hyde nearly died against St Kilda. That was full-on. Obviously Foley, Deledio, Johnson, Tuck, Tambo, Cotchin and White are ahead of him but with his quick step I think there is still room for a 6 foot 1, 25 year old goer on our list. Might be handy to cover holes like Kingy at the moment.

at this stage of his career, you'd expect him to at least be capable to do a job every week.

He does his job every week, has tagged most players out of the game except for Ablett (No-one has tagged him out yet) and Goodes.

What quick step, he is one of the slowest players on our list:confused:

Personally I want us to go into the season with a policy of picking the best team we can each week, and leave it until the last 4 weeks to experiment, should the 8 be out of reach.

That's not saying at all that a kid can't get in on merit. I'm all for that.

I'd like to see Polo get a chance too. I don't expect Hyde to play every game for the rest of the year. Given that he's probably one of the last picked each week, it wouldn't surprise (or upset) me if he goes back to the 2's.

Like I said, I would leave the 'play the kids for kids sake' mentality until the last 4 weeks of the year unless the 8 is a realistic chance. In my opinion, making the 8 this year is more important than blooding as many kids as possible.

believe me dude, making the 8 hinges solely on blooding the kids as many here know all to well. Thats the point, get those who can in and those who havent and cant out. ;)
