I stayed at the 3 Little Pigs when I was in Berlin. I had a single room thank God because I ended up being really crook and it was coming out from both ends. I didn't want to share a room with me let alone have some poor stranger put up with my spewing and shitting.

Would have thought SE Asia was just the location you wouldn't need to stay at a hostel (assuming monetary concerns are the primary reason for staying at one).

I just stayed in bungalows when I was travelling around the islands in Thailand, they were actually cheaper than hostels and you got your own room. They were similar to hostels though as they usually had a restaurant/bar area where everyone staying there would hang out. Don't think they even have hostels on the islands there, it's pretty much all bungalow style accomodation and in general they were better than the hostels I stayed at.

London favs so far:

Party hostels... The Generator. Any St Christopher's (Only been to Brighton one but all meant to be good, esp shepherds bush)

Relaxed Hostels: Palmers Lodge at Swiss Cottage was great but expect to pay a little extra and it is a bit further out of central London and Travel Joy at Chelsea/Pimlico. I'm currently at the White Ferry in Chelsea and it seems good too but early days.

And LOL The Emu. Although I wouldn't have resisted... after she had a shower ;)

Girls friend**, not girl.

Some of my favourites:

USA Hostels - Hollywood
USA Hostels - San Fran
HI - NYC
St Christophers - London Bridge
St Christophers - Paris
Balmers - Interlaken
Home - Valencia
HI - Salzburg
Villa Saint Exupery - French Riviera (Nice)
Jacobs Inn - Dublin

Even ones I have stayed at that arent mentioned here are all still good. I havent had any bad experiences apart from things that youd expect when staying in a dorm room, but I generally try to book a 6/8 bed dorm at the max to prevent endless disruptions throughout the night.

Its awesome. Right between Hollywood/Vine and Hollywood/Highland metro stations. Convenient access to downtown/Universal via the metro. Free shuttle bus to Santa Monica a couple of days per week (make your own way back), and its literally just off Hollywood Boulevard. Has a great kitchen (free cook your own pancakes!), big rooms, big lockers, lights and power outlets in bunk/locker. And you wont get past the lobby without your room key, so its quite safe. :thumbsu:
