in order - saints,dogs,roos,tigers...and okay, freo - just so theyd get over it, and move on! :)
(or leave them in purgatory for another decade?)(do freo have knobs on BF?)

If the mighty Pies can't win it, then I hope the doggies get over the line.
It would be a good cinderella story and if they can't then the Cats, simply because they are so bloody good and deserve it.

I've always liked Essendon. My Dad's a fan and I always enjoyed watching Essendon games with many memories of great people like Sheedy, Hird & Watson (Tim).

Other than that I also like North Melbourne, the Doggies and even enjoy watching Hawthorn (When we aren't playing them in a Final that is..)

Is it just me or is there some kind of Geelong/Essendon mutual admiration society?

Add me to that list too. Likeable team and (possibly even more importantly) they're the only club that doesn't seem to have any knob supporters on bigfooty.

... until they win a flag. I thought Hawks supporters were alright until October '08.

Personally, Cats - great team and the supporters I come in contact with are very reasonable folk. And as long as they're winning they can keep the cup warm until the Tige's are ready (another few to come then, Catters).

Richmond

FWIW I would hate to see the dogs win it, there is just something about the team I dislike, I actually think its still Terry Wallace but its a difficult thing to shake. But their fans seem alright in general.

What? Why has no one else picked this up? You don't like the doggies because of Wallace, but Richmond are ok?

For me Doggies or Adelaide....

Unlike Carlton or Collingwood supporters, I don't get pride from our club being universally hated, so I'd obviously like to see us win one without all the "Clarko's Cluster", "Unsociable Football", "Bradbury Premiers" (even though Geelong in 09 was 5 times the Bradbury of 08) etc. crap and get some respect back from the footballing world (our supporters will probably have to behave better for that to happen too).

Otherwise, would love to see the Dees get up for a flag. It won't happen this year but in the next few years it would be great for their club and supporters. Obviously a Doggies flag would be great for football as would a flag for Freo. Although it would be nightmarish, a Richmond flag would be great for football. You'd never see such jubilation in the streets and hysteria than if the tuggers got up to win and although it'd be tough to swallow, it'd be great for football.

Dogs first, Saints second. Just for the obvious dodgy-history reasons, I guess. The ones I know tend to be alright supporters, too.

Though I wouldn't mind if Geelong got another one.

I'd be curious to hear your explanation of this bit??

As for the topic at hand, got a lot of time for the Cats. Aside from that I'm really not fussed. Doggies maybe, but that's about it.

I'll watch any game of footy, anytime, but I'm Blues through and through so why bother considering enjoying other teams win it at this stage?

I wouldn't mind seeing a young team like Essendon, West Coast or Freo come from the clouds to win it.

Out of the main contenders though I'd probably pick Adelaide. I admire their professionalism and the fact that they developed a good squad the right way, not through tanking and priority picks.

+1, always liked watching them play, especially when Roo was flying. Would like to see them win it.

Would have said Saints but not now, can't stand Ross Lyon, makes Peter Costello look un-smug.

Dogs as well, just to end the drought.

Pretty insular in Geelong...Freo has approx 40,000 members which would be as many if not more than Geelong. I happen to have been to Geelong on a number of occassions and really like the city and the club (old man was nearly drafted by the cats) but comments like the above are uninformed and small-minded.

unsure why you think its small minded

I simply don't know anyone who barracks for Freo

I'd be happy for North to win it. I think my respect for North goes back to the Carey/Jakovich contests. Plus, they get written off every year and always "over-achieve". Add to that the fact that a premiership would give them the boost they could use financially.

Worst case scenario would be Freo. Half my mates are just waiting to hammer me. Although, they have cashed-in a few chips already with the Derbies of late.

The feeling's definitely mutual. Considering you're the big bad Geelong your fans have done an awful lot of whinging lately about nasty little Freo being too rough when we play you (not just talking about the Solly incident either).

I know. There is the way you tag Ablett, just not footy, freo make it ugly. Lucky your players have not gone unnoticed and there has been reports and free kicks etc. A blight on the game the way you guys play us, you guys also don't seem to like it when we are a bit tough on a younger player.
Plus there is a couple of close matches which has caused arguments on our boards, anyway makes for interesting viewing. If freo were any good a rivalry could be brewing.

I tried explaining this.

St Kilda without a doubt, my grandparents were big fans and always had a soft spot for them.

If not them (or Carlton obviously) it would be good to see the Doggies nab a flag. And because Brissie denied both Collingwood and Essendon premierships I wouldnt mind them winning one............even with Fev there.
