The above should be the new BL clash guernsey :D

But I agree with the jumper staying the same... although I dont think its a lot Fitzroy, its not a lot Bears either! It was a merger, so the guernsey has been merged, and modernised, and it is one of the best jumpers in the league, for sure. That being said, you have to give Fitzroy something at least, so go the above clash guernsey!

When we have at least 6 current/historical guernseys that are 100000000 times better than that crap, Marklar must either be making a weak attempt at a troll or clinically certifiable for suggesting such a strip. Although as a collingwood supporter he could be both;)

Wrong question. Should be asking the lapsed members their preferences. It's not who you have got that matters(just ask the pollies). It's the ones you've lost(churn rate) and the new ones you can get that matter.

I disagree. I think being a member should earn you the right to have a say, not disqualify you from it. A footy club is a dynamic organisation and if it wants to keep moving forward it should be listening to the people who are in touch with the issues and who have the best interests of the club at heart, ie. current members.

Re: Should The Lions Wear Fitzroy Jumper For Melbourne based Games?

Well you don't have to respond if you're sick of it. Personally I'm heartened to see others bring this issue up. Depends on what side of the issue you come from I suppose...

I like it too. Doesn't mean I wouldn't love to see the Lions play a handfull of games in the Fitzroy guernsey. I could even start to like the Bears jumper if it was used a handful of times a year as well :D

Great where do I sign up

It's not a matter of getting over anything. What happened sucked for both parties.

That said there's no reason why the the Brisbane Lions as a unitied club shouldn't consider wearing the Fitzroy guernsey a handful of times a year. We need to find a happy medium and what harm is there giving old Fitzroy supporters a few token gestures of pride??

Yes why don't we placate a few thousand victorian supporters at the expense of the FAR GREATER number of BRISBANE LIONS supporters. Now having made it clear that I don't want my Club to play in a Fitzroy jumper outside of a Heritage round, I think I have a happy medium. For our Melbourne games we should play in a Fitzroy jumper but without the monogram. Instead have the Lion. It pays homage to Fitzroy without being a specifically Fitzroy jumper. Think of it as having been.......Brisbaned up!

Hey, I'm Victorian....and I dont want us to wear the Fitzroy jumper other than heritage round every SECOND year ( the other year wear a BEARS jumper) fairs fair.......Brisbane Lions jumper at all times..

Yeah but the red should be darker, say maroon;)

Interesting in the Brisbane Lions E-Mail I recieved this evening this image was included for a Christmas sale...

The Vodafone logo and the neckline on the 2 jumpers is different to this years leading to the assumption that these are the 2008 jumpers.

This would unofficially confirm that the white (Very much talked about) jumper will be part of the Brisbane Lions group of jumpers in 08. Will the Fitzroy jumper make up a third jumper we will have to wait and see.

Clash jumper on special on the Lions AFL shop Website. I wonder if this is a sign that in 2008 we will be wearing a different clash jumper at the least?

No. Any new design has to be approved by the AFL and it is a long process. Although the Vodafone logo will be slightly different.

Ahem... as I was saying...

Sorry Daniel I forgot to include the "Good call Daniel" in my post. When I saw the jumpers it was the first thing I thought:thumbsu::thumbsu:

The white was a good looking jumper and if they do wear it next year i hope they doont wear the white shorts and whit socks looked pretty crappy

Well with less games being played in Melbourne next season and with future games in Melbourne looking even less secure with a club on the Gold Coast and another in West Sydney on the AFL's drawing board a few games a year in the Fitzroy guernsey would be a great initiative by the club to supporters who have lost much and look to lose more. The club can't control the amount of games in Melbourne but it does have the option to wear the Fitzroy guernsey.

I'd love to see it worn for all games in Melbourne but with many loyal supporters without the Fitzroy background that's not the fairest outcome. I'm willing to compromise but get jaded when Lions supporters without the Fitzroy background aren't so willing. But it's an emotional issue so it's to be expected but still dissappointing..

Heh.

Fitzroys guernsey was maroon but was changed to red for television if I recall rightly.

The clash strip and Fitzroy strip were heavily discussed at the AGM tonight.

I swear one of the speakers was channelling MacMum.

What sought of things about the jumper were said?
