Showing in the Big W teaser catalogue at $170. Amazon are already matching.

The UCS Falcon is in Amazon's current sale at $982.

I want it, money isnt the sole issue. Actually have spent $$$ on worse things lol. Have to factor in where I'll store it before building it, during the build and after. I'd probably move the previous MF set (75105) and put the UCS one there. Just thinking out loud.

I can get Simba slightly cheaper (been told $155 after a discount) still mulling it over.

Nice little build this one:

I know there's heaps of people wanting Mario Minifigures but with the enemies being iconic, I really like the emphasis on building them. Even in the little sets. But the large scale ones like this and Bowser are great.

All 4 18+ Mario sets have been great display pieces and interesting in their own way, I hope we get another good one this year.

Well! Colour me (very pleasantly) surprised. The Yellow Truck is coming. Should be a hoot.

Truck crashes on the way to your house. In an ironic twist, the K-Mart truck is intact but your Lego truck box is destroyed.

Nah jk enjoy. I plan to hopefully build it this weekend.

Apologies Neese, you asked for some pics of Andrea's Mansion ages ago, so I've attached a few below.

I have a few Friends sets which have always been fun builds (though extremely frustrating for a colourblind person). I mainly build these with the grandchildren who love the colours and the playability. Andrea's Mansion is the first Friends set to be a Lego exclusive and to be graded as 16+ (although this is unnecessary). It is also the first retail Friends set to include all five of the original Friends.

The mansion itself is very modern in appearance and seemingly functionality. The pool is on the front porch and on top of a basement recording studio. The hot tub and entertaining area, complete with piano, are also on the ground floor in full view of the street. I guess Andrea lives in a gated estate where such things aren't an issue. The car is a great little build, and the garage door has a satisfying Technic mechanism.

The recording studio is very well kitted out, and even has a pull-out bed under the mixing desk, so hopefully there's been no leaks in the pool directly above. Andrea's has a gold record on the wall, I guess these are still a thing in 2024.

Apart from the pool and hot tub, the first floor consists of a living/entertaining area and a bedroom, which of course has a toilet (the only one in the house, which detracts from its mansion status somewhat). Lego's focus groups must reinforce the need for every dwelling to have one included as they are ubiquitous. The set doesn't reach the heights of Ninjago City Markets which includes a flushable one, but I accept that this would ruin the asethetic here.

There is also a tiny kitchen, more acccurately described as a serving hatch. I guess pop stars don't cook after all, but who wants all those Uber eats drivers coming to the door when you're in your hot tub facing the street?

Andrea's wonderwall is cute, it provides the passage way between the bedroom and the lounge.

The second floor is, you've guessed it, an outdoor entertaining area. I'm not sure how an astronaut, a mayor and a successful business owner have so much free time to spend with Andrea, but they're all here.

The central tower houses a lift which works well (more satisfying Technic here) but does take up a fair bit of the real estate on each floor.

Lego obviously got the real estate agents in when marketing the set - the term "mansion" is used very loosely here. It would be more correct to call it a party house with one bedroom, one bathroom, 0.5 kitchens, single car garage and three entertaining spaces. Oh, and a recording studio.

It is, however, very well designed and a complete departure from anything we've seen in Lego buildings. Cool building techniques and great use of colour (ugh!) help and it's just fun, like playing with a toy should be. It actually looks good on display. It sits on my shelf just as it would in real life - in between the Museum and Himeji Castle ;).

So, would I recommend it? Sadly probably not at its $350 asking price - that's twice as much as i've ever paid for a Friends set and it isn't twice the value. If you love Friends and/or you have young family members who do though, then go for it - you (and they) won't be disappointed.

Just been watching youtubes on this subject and I thought I'd ask here - have you ever bought a Lego set that you've later regretted because it didn't meet expectations?

Not sure I have, but I haven't bought any of the mega sets. I think the Technic Crane at $1,050 might have been such a set but that's not going to land in my collection short of a 60% discount ;). I suspect that if I were to get the Orient Express set I might feel the same way for the price.

I wasn't a huge fan of Diagon Alley as it seemed "skimpy" for the price (it's build on 16-stud-deep plates) but there's no denying the detail and the myriad of source material references. Perhaps uncoincidentally it's the most I've ever spent on a single set and maybe because of that expectations are higher.

I've never ordered a BDP set, but have often been tempted. Both of these look awesome. Congratulations.
Series 1 was limited to 10k sets globally and sold out in 10mins
These were 30k limited and all sold out pretty quickly as well
* Edit I paid $409 for this..

Yeah 30,000 is slightly more reasonable. Surely this tells Lego something about the Ideas sets that fans REALLY want.

Seems though that still anything Lego makes with artificial scarcity is a haven for flippers and scalpers.

I think they have 3 more series coming. Surely they'll make more available. Although the rarer they are the more Lego can charge

Put a little starter course in front of bowser. Would have liked his stage a little higher but don't have the room yet

That's brilliant. You even have the little muscle car set, which I think is my favourite Mario build.

I had to pack up my Mario sets to make room, but hopefully one day I can build a decent level. Am looking forward to the Bowser Express Train as I'm a sucker for any train set(*).

(*) NOTE: possibly not including Thomas the Orient Express ..
