I have all the spare pieces too.

i do the same thing, never going to sell my Lego, some boxes look good thoughI keep the boxes, but I'm not really sure why, I'm never going to sell anything .
I flatten them (easy with the old tape closed ones, harder with the glued up boxes or the ones with lids or top opening flaps) and keep them on a shelf in the garage.
Oh yeah I 100% keep all books and spare pieces.
Just received an email from Lego about the Insiders Weekend, held on 23 and 24 November. There'll be double points, some discounts on selected sets and a couple of new GWPs. It's generally a good time to get exclusive sets that aren't available discounted anywhere else (I might get Nightmare Before Christmas, which is currently on backorder).
Unfortunately this won't include Endurance, which releases on Black Friday, 29 November, and won't be available for pre-order before then.
Do you have the Senna set? That's probably my pick of recent smaller builds, or some of the smaller Botanicals if you're into those. I think I'll get Poinsettia for the Christmas table. And they're announcing some F1 sets this week as well. Could be ugly. I still have the Technic Merc to build, as well as Great Wave and a Technic Porsche... but I'm hanging out for some smaller builds that I can get done in a day or two, the week-long builds are tough to find time for, especially when I've had foster dogs coming and going.
By the way, the acrylic case by DKDISPLAYING on Amazon that has the background has had its price cut in half, I just found it this morning.

Lego's wallet draining strategy of producing 18+ sets is great, but some of them take up a lot of space.
Any recommendations for display? I am looking at getting bookshelves or perhaps a cabinet approx 900W x 2000H x 40D.
I’ve got a great cabinet around that size that holds some more younger LEGO sets at mums place that I’d like to use for my newer ones. Trouble is it’s big, bulky and heavy and can’t get it out!!! But it’s a good cabinet, originally had it to house my model cars.
I’d also have to get rid of the spare bed in my office to put it.
