Kewell sacked by Yokohama after just 6 months in charge. They’re 12th just 7 points above relegation. Coaching career over you’d have to say

A strange appointment in the first place. He's not exactly got a glowing record of success as a head coach. Someone will give him a job as an assistant.

Think they just figured they'd done well with Aussie managers.

Yeah some people are simply best suited as assistants, and there's nothing wrong with that if they can accept it. Kewell had a lot of praise while at Celtic under Ange, from the big man himself and players, but his history has shown that taking the reigns isn't where he's best suited.

Yeah don’t think it helps anyone for him to stay on but from the mess he inherited he got some great results and has set up the platform for them to no longer be a joke. Best thing for his reputation is probably not to get involved in club football again.

This will be England’s most important appointment in a long time. Howe probably the best option out of those being mentioned but not sure he leaves Newcastle for it.

Yeah, Southgate is probably more suited to an international job. There's always opportunities for someone with his experience. Sven-Göran Eriksson managed the national teams of England, Mexico, Philippines and the Ivory Coast. Guus Hiddink managed Netherlands, South Korea, Australia, Russia and Turkey.

I don't mind either Howe or Potter. They both have a cohesive game plan, which is what has been missing under Southgate.

He’s underachieved. Every big nation at some point in his tenure were there for the picking. With the squad he had, he should have won something, yet leaves with nothing. Boring football, no trophies. Best young talents in the world and fell over the line in a lot of games they should have won convincingly. But too interested in playing his football that would put an insomniac to sleep.

No argument the football was poor to watch, and I think he’d get found out if he went to a club. It’s easy to say he should’ve won something but England have never had the best squad at any of the tournaments he’s managed.

The overrating of the England squad is a bit similar to the premier league. All the time we get told how much better the premier league is than the rest and other comps are farmers leagues. Then you look at the actual results in European competitions and the English teams have underperformed for a long time now.
