Not sure if moral is the word i was looking for....

But how excited and happy were all the players last night? Most of the players got excited after the young blokes kicked goals, All the players ran over to simmo when he kicked the ex-captains goal in the 4th.

The youth has brought in so much more then just class and run.

Looks like Laidley has taken his foot off the throat of the players and invited some flair also. Was glad to actually see him doing the right thing with Ziebell and raising his value in the media.
Combined with the corridor stuff, JYD may not be completely proud and deaf.
If he starts giving Harro 80% game time will be almost proud of the guy for once.

We looked lively, running, the guys look like they're enjoying playing footy. Especially Swallow; leadership material...

Simmo said in an interview post match that "Andrew Swallow is the quickest guy at the club".

Could this be true?

Even quicker than Shannon Watt?

Surely he is taking the piss?

Swallow's pretty quick. Its been mentioned before that he used to get caught coz he didn't have the confidence in his kicking so he'd often have to slow down to get rid of the footy. He's improved his kicking dramatically, going on what I've seen this year. He's always been a mad bastard at the contests.:thumbsu:

Yeah but quicker than someone like Campbell (I mean Watt)?

He still wasn't exactly smiling though. http://bigpondvideo.com/kangaroostv/127489 Laidley's media performance has taking a big dive this year.. he was looking promising 12 months ago.

Just won a big game where the kids have really stood up and there was no positive emotion.. glad he gave Jacky a shout-out but there were other players who could use the praise (edwards, warren, hmac, swallow)

As someone said, Swallow is actually very quick, remember the Melbourne game in 07 or 08, when he burst through the centre to kick the winning goal.

Did anyone hear the interview at halftime with Boomer and Colbie.Boomer stated that he had been coached by the great Dennis Pagan and the Great Dean laidley.Went on to say that Laidley was the best game day tactian he had seen and Colbo agreed.Big wrap for the coach when reading on here he had lost the players.

In the last 5 minutes when we got overrun Wells, Campbell, Ross and Goldstein were on the bench.

I think it says a lot about how we play when we don't have enough attacking players around the ball.

Goldstein is massive, his hit outs to advantage were ****ing awesome, just seeing him go up against Lade and Brogan and time and again put the ball on the chest of a North player was freaking massive.

I don't ever want to see us go into a game without McIntosh and Goldstein outside of injuries. Petrie, Hale and McIntosh just don't have Goldy's technique, he is a natural. McIntosh should run his arse off and go forward as much as possible, try and snag some goals and then come off and let Goldy deliver some honey to the mids. It is one of the best ruck combos going around.

How about that second effort and great tackle from Goldy, he isn't slow of brain or useless at ground level. Stick with developing Petrie and Hale as KPPs, leave Monster and Goldy as our ruckmen. If we didn't have Goldy in the last 5 minutes the way Monster was struggling towards the end, we would have been overrun.

Yeah, because if they thought Laidley was crap, then of course they would certainly be saying that in a halftime interview.

I can hear it now: "I've been coached by the great Pagan and the fair-to-middling Laidley. Out of the two of them, one is a better game day tactician".

Colby would then say "I disagree, he's worse than fair-to-middling".

Yeah, that's about how it would have gone if they really thought that.

Supposedly, all the players thought there was only a few seconds left. Adam Simpson said after the game that the quarter went for 38 minutes and thats why he and Wells missed a significant part of that last 5 mins.

It's interesting that Laidley is such a great match day tactician yet his players didn't know how long was left...!? He should have known how long was left and should have communicated that to his players, and certainly to such a quality bench!

Do the coaches have access to the official time clock?

MMM were suggesting the players be told, but couldnt see the runner out, we were probably 30 seconds away from our season being over, we were very lucky. These shit versions of really good wins are a trademark and a concern.

Did you go to the game?

Unfortunately I was having reception issues with my radio and I could only listen to FM so I listened to the rot that MMM dished out on saturday night while I was at the game. Before I address your comments just let me say that I have never heard a worse call of the footy than what was broadcast saturday night, NEVER!!.

A couple of the highlights were:
1. Continually referring to everyone by their surname except for Warren Tredrea who they called Warren all night even though we had a Ben Warren who they also called Warren. The only other player that didnt get the surname was Chad Cornes who was referred to as "The Chad" all night
2. Continually referring to possessions as natural blondes - "player x has had 14 natural blondes"
3. Not recognising that we had 4 ruckmen on the field, every time a player rucked for us he was called McIntosh. They didnt call Goldstein all game.
4. A play towards the end of the night where they called Simpson collecting the ball on the half back line and kicking it 50 metres to guess who, Simpson (probably possible due to simmo's up and under floater kicks but luckily this time it was a decent kick)

Anyway I digress.

When they said that about the remaining time and saying how the runner should be on the ground telling the players I looked at the bench, couldnt see the runners so looked out on the ground and he was out there, so Im not sure what they were talking about, the runner was out there.

Even still if we had a choice to deliver a message about 'team structure' as opposed to running out there to 18 guys and telling them how much time was remaining, what do you think we would be telling the guys?

So anyway your point isnt valid.

If there was ever two brothers involved in AFL footy that made more ****ups than Gilligan and his commentator brother Hamish, I'd like to know who they are.

Was there, couldnt see the bench well from the other side of the ground.
Couldnt see the runner out and about late.
Only listened for short periods mostly at the end which was good to know.
Was listening at the Swans draw last year which was a bitch to know the time, as the ball was right in front of us and really disappointing to know we stuffed that game like wouldve happened if Shitlops kick off the ground went through.

They were certainly excited down on the pitch, but did anyone see Harro going down the race at the end, he was absolutley pumping.
Was a joy to see, obviously it meant a lot to him

Dont think you looked hard enough.

Do you really think being a goal or two down with a couple minutes to go, the runners would be sitting on their arses on the bench? What do you reckon Laidley would say to them if they were?

I think you are looking for any chance you can to have a dig at the coach in a week where we had a win, albeit by a small margin, but a win is a win and people like you wouldnt like that.

Yeah i watched him pretty closely at the end and being close to the players race I saw all the boys come through and it was fantastic to see how much it meant to the guys to have a win. They certainly felt the win.

Love sitting in an empty stadium on coldish nights hoping we lose. Pretty much just call a spade a spade instead of how you go about it, which is fine.

Like you said it is papering over cracks to a degree, but yeah, nah, look i wanted us to win bigtime this week.
It is a legitimite plan to get better draft picks, a new coach and assistants than finishing 8-9 getting humiliated in a final, shit picks and signing a failed coach. We cant finish top 4. We are wasting our easy part of the draw.
My sliding doors will see a flag before your mediocre plans. Weve been and done the plan you wish for many times.(ps it gets us nowhere).
