The morale of the players

Like you said it is papering over cracks to a degree, but yeah, nah, look i wanted us to win bigtime this week.
It is a legitimite plan to get better draft picks, a new coach and assistants than finishing 8-9 getting humiliated in a final, shit picks and signing a failed coach. We cant finish top 4. We are wasting our easy part of the draw.
My sliding doors will see a flag before your mediocre plans. Weve been and done the plan you wish for many times.(ps it gets us nowhere).
Didnt you hear JB the other day, this years results wont play any/much part in the re-signing of Laidley, and nor should it. They will make the decision, I dont really care, I am still a fan of certain parts of his coaching but I have no love for Laidley.

I love the NMFC and if the people running the club, love our club then they will do what they can within the limitations they have. Whatever happens, im happy with. Sliding doors, wasting easy part of the draw, early draft picks, Im not really sure what you are crapping on about there but again, doesnt surprise me that I dont understand.

But to accuse Laidley of not doing the right thing by not having the runner out there in the last few minutes of the game telling the players how much time was left on the clock based on what a bunch of anti-nmfc ********s said on the radio (even though you 'were at the game' and you could have seen for yourself if you wanted to) is blatantly incorrect and if you want to backup your hatred of the coach by 'validating' them because someone said it on the radio, maybe you should get your facts right and pick a more reliable source.

As a member i also think results should play no part in signing a new coach. WTF.

We are definately not a club in a position to have to worry about results or even properly building towards a flag.

When it comes to judging JBs tenure i will not be judging it from whether we relocate, fold or merge its more about his mateship around the club.
If we fold JB can be the next Eddie of our VFL side as far im concerned.

Jeepers get over the runner stuff, didnt see one, was stating a comment.

A comment you used to back up you paying out on the coach again. Maybe runners can wear a brighter top so you can see them out on the park.

Supposedly, all the players thought there was only a few seconds left. Adam Simpson said after the game that the quarter went for 38 minutes and thats why he and Wells missed a significant part of that last 5 mins.

This is getting way to personal for my liking and i normally don't go near threads that get this heated, but just to clarify, my post was in response to this statement, which i found a bit surprising that the time was not known by Simmo, and aside from anything else they should be going for the jugular not taking the foot off the pedal. I'm totally wrapped with the win and good on Laids for trying some new strategies, but we're 'only' percentage off 6th place and a few more points would not have gone astray.

RooShine, I think there has been some misunderstanding. Simmo said in his interviews (and I heard him interviewed on 3 radio stations on saturday post match as I was channel surfing in the car on the way home) that he couldnt believe the quarter went for 37 minutes (I heard him say 37 not 38). At no stage did he say he wasnt aware how long was left on the clock. Just amazed the quarter went for so long as they were stuffed.

And another thing is, if I was a player on the bench or on the ground I would be asking anyone I could find how long there was left in the game. I think its a little naive to think that any of the players on the bench wouldnt know how long (within a 20-30 second range) was left on the clock. And if they didnt know and wanted to know whats to stop them from asking, all the officials on the bench knows how long left, they have a direct feed.

Just a quick one.

Anyone know why the last qtr went for so long.???

Got me f****.
All the quarters went over 30 minutes but the last quarter there were 42 stoppages, which is unusually high. There were a few umpiring holdups too and now the break after a goal they have to wait 45 seconds for the tv networks (even for the foxtel games I believe) instead of the old 30 seconds. it sounds all minor but it all adds up.

To put into context I think the Brisbane Richmond game had just over 60 stoppages for the entire game.

Thnx.

Didn't know about having to wait for Foxtel and 42 ball ups; shit that's gotta be close to some sort of modern day record.

I think hitouts were 50 odd to us and 60 odd to them. Lucky we played 4 ruckmen hey? Maybe Laidley knew something.

Interesting stat that.

Last night I was reading the Port board and pretty much everyone agreed they were smashed in the ruck and the clearances, with H in particular getting massive wraps. ( And so he should have).

And yeah, Laidley isn't a complete idiot. Beating arguably the best ruck combo in the comp was gonna play a huge part in us having a real chance at knocking off Port, and so it proved.

I wonder if them winning the hitouts in the last had much bearing on their last qtr comeback? You'd think it would have had a fair bearing.

Kudos to Laidley though, because I reckon he coached well on Saturday, and I aint a huge fan either.

I've been a BigFooty member for ohhh, 48 hours now, and I must say I'ts pretty annoying having every thread turn into a flame war on Laidley's job.

Can't there just be one weekly fat arse thread ragging on him and leave it out of every other subject!?

my 2c

Yeah in a perfect world, but this is Bigfooty.

99% of threads have a good degree of "he's shit, no he's not" type stuff.

Just try and wade through for the gold.

Stick with it,... the more opinions the better.:thumbsu:

Simmo said in an interview post match that "Andrew Swallow is the quickest guy at the club".

Could this be true?

Even quicker than Shannon Watt?

Surely he is taking the piss?
definately taking the piss,he would be the slowest player of his size in the league, also hard to be fast when on you are on the ground "off your feet" more than you are on it,fastest @ the club matty campbell by a country mile

could not agree with you more zvim i was sitting on the interchange side of the ground and when macca came off for a rest ,and goldie went on ,it was like seeing a player who had played 100 games ,not just a handful ,he was a perfect back up to macca ,which now releases drew and david for other duties ,i hope dean just keeps playing him every week i know other clubs would kill to have the ruckmen that we have .go the mighty kangas ,once north ,always north .
