The most underrated midfield in the game.

Brisbanes is under rated because they are the best and don't get credit.

Black, Lappin, Johnstone and Power with the rucking of Charman.
It's pure speed, class, expirience and natural talent.

In that case, add Jon Brown to our mid, he had three awesome games there.

Didak played midfield throughout 2006. He was primarily used as a half forward who pushed up the ground, he and Buckley were the two we wanted delivering to forwards. He led the club in assists. He also went into the centre square on occasions, and showed he is very good at winning and clearing the ball. His skills are probably the best at the club, so essentially we would be stupid not to have him in the middle with everything he can do. He will have a 'breakout' midfield year in 08, just like Ablett did in 07. Though I don't think he will be as good as Ablett... but who knows.

Still defending Didak ey? He was not in your midfield last year. He was primarily played at half forward. I also dont think he will be as good as Ablett...

Nobody is saying he is. We are saying he will be. Is that too hard to understand? Do you know the meaning of the word "will"? He was groomed for it in 2006.. then he had a knee reco so he played forward. Then at the end of 2007 he started going in the middle again. He WILL be in the midfield next year.

He can't be part of your underrated midfield then can he? Maybe we can underrate him there in the future. Until then, he has no part of this discussion.

Well then you ignore him, while everyone else includes him in the discussion. Whatever keeps you happy. :thumbsu:

Yeah, ok, I just figured we might discuss the topic, didn't realise it was a pointless Didak love fest.
Pie fans are only precious over him due to the high price they payed to pick him up. They could have picked up much better players like Burgoyne, Kerr, Harris etc. but they'll continue to hope he proves he was worth the no. 3 pick...

No need to hope. He is/was more than worth it. Thanks for the concern though. :thumbsu:

Port Adelaide
Lade, K.Cornes, C.Cornes, Salopek, S.Burgoyne, P.Burgoyne, Cassisi
Can you call that midfield underrated when they made the Grand Final?

And you can still add Boak, Rodan, Pearce, Surjan and possibly Thomson to that engine room. :thumbsu:

Mclean, Jones, Moloney, Bate, Bruce, Green, Petterd and Grimes is one to keep an eye out for.

For a no. 3 pick he is. Judd went at no. 3...Didak:eek:
Get back to me when he finds some consistency regarding good form:thumbsu:

All Australian 2006 = consistency.

He was recovering from a knee injury last year but still was very good for us. And hardly inconsistent.

#3 picks
1995 - Fewster
1996 - Hilton
1997 - Croad
1998 - Fosdike
1999 - Fiora
2000 - Didak
2001 - Judd
2002 - Brennan
2003 - Sylvia
2004 - Griffen
2005 - Ellis

Yeah Didak really has been a let down. Doesn't deserve to be in such esteemed company.

Very good for you? Other than his finals matches he didnt do too much else.
Good on you for taking things so literally:eek:. No. 3 pick entails plenty of demands from fans and needs to be a gem, which Didak is not. Sure he came back from a knee injury, so he deserves extra time to show his worth, but good players show consistency season after season. Not just one decent season.

Didak is an All Australian player who pregressively has spent more and more time in the midfield in season 2006, the year he won AA selection. He went back to the forward line in 2007 after a knee reconstruction. His cameos in the midfield in the finals series in 2007 were a delight to watch.

Anybody who thinks he's not part of our midfield plans in 2008, or who thinks he wont make it as a midfielder, has their hand on it. He is one of the reasons our midfield is under-rated. With a full preseason, the sky's the limit.

Wow. There's a few embarrassments in there.

Well after reading some posts i am very confident the pies will have another big year.

Thomas - Matching winning freak, all class and loves to take the game on. Soft haha.
Clarke - Probably one of the fittest players at our club, conversion rate is supreme, his footskills are some of the best i have ever seen.
Didak - Match winner, has been groomed for midifled duties for the last 3 years, now has the tank and showed his class when it counted, finals.
Pendlbury - Freak, one of the most natural ball winners i have seen for a long time at collingwood, reads play has excellent skills around the ground, 1 touch. The future hybrid of the perfect midfielder.
Swan - Finshed about 6-7th in last years brownlow, ball magnet, requires tagging, can tear teams apart, would have to be one of the most underrated players in the game, by fans thats is lol.
Johnson - Needs to improve on his footskills, definatly a player, not A grade but very solid player.

Fraser - Needs support in the ruck, has been carrying the ruck since he was a kid, probably has the best skills around the ground compaired to other ruck stocks, with cox the exception.

Wood - Unknown, massive unit and will be given game time, could be anything.

Then add the experiance in Burns who is hard and uncompromising and OBs capacity to accumulate.

08 should be a good year.

The roos mid is also underrated Mcintosh is a weapon.
Harris is class and very important.
Rawlings is the best tagger in the comp full stop.
Harvey can turn a game on its head.
Smith is my favorite young gun in the comp bar the pies players, this kid is going to be a freak. Cannot wait to see him thomas and pendles dominating when they hit prime. I rate him as high as pendles and thommo without a doubt, i think his upside is huge.

Thanks for the comments Dons supporters but please dont even bother if you are going to bag out our list, you guys are bottom 4 for the next 5 years.

and thats when I tuned out......

Everything that was mentioned was very accurate. Sure Pendlebury and Thomas display moments of excitement, although they are soft and will never win you a flag. I do rate Johnson, although as a running back-flanker not a midfielder and there are plenty of back flankers in the league as it's the easiest position on the field. Swan can play a bit but not with the likes of Judd, West, Black, Ablett, etc... So that's your call to tune out but you can't deny something that is legit!!!

On the most underated midfields, I believe Richmond's will come on okay this year, just a pity about the other 12 spots. Coughlin, Tuck, Foley, Deledio, Johnson and Tambling are all fair players (better than Collingwood's also) but they have no support around the ground.

I also believe that one team which is developing a core group is that of Melbourne. Jones, McLean and Sylvia are all quality up and comers who have a few games under their belt now and should really push forward this year.

Obviously biased, but post Scott West, we could have everything or possibly nothing, but I do like the midfield consisting of Griffen, Cooney, Cross, Ray and Higgins.

As much as I hate to say it, I have to agree that Carlton is beginning to form a quality nucleas. Judd (no explanation necessary), Stevens (as good a midfielder in the game when fit), Carazzo (a superb 2007), Walker, Murphy and Gibbs have all the potential in the world, but similar to Richmond they are only on par across the park, Fev can only do so much.

I rate the majority of the teams with even midfields, but have to stand by my belief that the worst, and by some distance, is Essendon.

I'm sure this will cause plenty of debate.

Ah, the beauty of forums.....

Because you have credibility for tipping a club to finish in the bottom 4 for the next 5 years ey:rolleyes::eek:

Each midfield is designed by the club for a specific purpose, to say one is underrated, first you need to understand what they are trying to do...

Example, Hawthorns midfield in my opinion has been designed to win contested posession and and then have the quick option to get the ball out.....

the handball skills are quite recognised, however, the ability to move it quickly isnt so much....
