Season 22 has seen a lot of new faces entering the league, including none other than myself, Furies rookie tgrs, and as one of the many self involved upstarts with the right mix of six packs seeming to be in with an excellent chance of securing a seat on the night the prestigous EKA medal is awarded; the disappearance of a certain second year player has certainly raised a few eyebrows.
Green with envy? Painful memories of misfortune in the past said to be haunting promising young player dennis crumpet as a lack of commitment in the media and a quiet day at the office on the weekend boils over with further silence on the rookie race.
A win over the Dawks was hardly a hard task to answer but one of the main names at the Bombers failed to live up to the hype of a good start to the season, registering just a lowly 59 DreamTeam points. Bombers rookie DrEvil_ proved to be far more effective in only his third game of a short career which would have to have Baghdad's management worrying about the development of a player touted as a future star; or could there potentially secrets playing out behind the scenes that no one but those involved know about...the answer will only come with time, but it's worth suggesting that it could be as simple as the nature of the person of interest.
The narrative of the game on Sunday is all to familiarly associated with mr.crumpets still growing history in the league. Storming into season 21 EKA contention at the start of the year; crumpet's year fell apart around him as the current Fighting Furies vice captain Sterge and DapperJong finished in first and second positions; a dramatic fall off providing the first worrying signs of a fluctuating career.
Season 22 began optimistically, and mr. crumpet would have to been excited at being one of the elite rookies of last year looking to cement his name and number in the top tier of the competition; buoyed by a buzzing media thread that was one of the highlights of a first round full of great competition, banter and rookie involvement, dennis looked set for a genuinely decent second season, the bitterness of last year obviously still burning in his mind.
But then he did what everyone expected him to do.
Mr. crumpet confirmed fears that a stark drop off in quality was not just a one time event but a nagging habit the bombers player has been unable to kick.
2 rounds of silence, the fall from form this weekend and the questions have to be asked.
Where did it all go wrong?
Where is mr. crumpets head at? Can he stick with anything long term? Is this representative of a broader problem festering in Baghdad? Or has the expectance of mediocrity by those commenting in his power rankings thread disturbed the mental aspect of a player known to be fragile and resulted in the disappointing performance against East Side?
Green with envy, or too green for responsibility; this season will prove to be defining in the reputation and character of mr. crumpet.
