Tom Wolfe's writing style is such a big part of his books that it makes adapting it for screen really difficult.

Not familiar with his writing style but what you refer to there makes absolute sense.

Just finished The Diplomat season 2. It was outstanding.

Yep, brilliant show, and best thing I've seen on Netflix since Mindhunter. Near enough to West Wing quality dialogue and political intrigue.

I really appreciate it when shows don't treat their audience like idiots - it's quite rare.

The ending was a bit far-fetched, but apart from that, it was a real edge-of-your-seat political thriller that was generally very well-written and acted.

Watched Finke: There and Back last night.

Really well made doco on the big desert race from Alice Springs to the little old town of Finke.

It's absolutely wild the speeds and danger they go through. Mad as cut snakes.

Wasn't expecting the horribly sad news at the end. It's all part and parcel of what they do but still incredibly sad.

Finished A Man in Full last night.

Don't regret watching it but equally if someone were to ask me in 12 months what it was like, I won't remember.

watched some of the show 'from'.

from what i've seen and know of the show (as in, extended into a 4th season) i know it's time to tap out, early. on the surface, it's a good show. interesting concept, well shot. some good horror bits. but the sheer amount of minutiae that makes up the dialogue in this show just gives off 'this is all going to go nowhere' vibes.

Just finished Man on the Inside.
Lovely series, with a message for all generations. Had to wipe away the occasional tear in the last episode.
Ted Danson is brilliant in it, a vastly underrated actor imo.

Crazy finish, odd show. Really not sure I'd have bothered with a season 2 even if there'd been one.

Trying to clear my Netflix list for shows that have 1-2 seasons but have ended.

Started Space Force last night. It's ridiculous but in a way I absolutely love.

Malkovich and Carrell working off each other was so bloody good!

We've been watching La Brea, which is terrible science fiction TV but has a goofiness that has kept us watching.

Pretty good casting and they managed to make it mostly about the driving. Thought they would try and sex it up like they usually do.

I enjoy the subtle things with James Hunt always having a drink nearby while they show him commentating.

One episode to go, I look forward to seeing how they film his accident.
