It was ... they kept it in Queensland from Wednesday up to today. Just opened the box. Purdy.
I found that OzGameShop is offering the new 3DSXL for under $220. Free postage.
I cancelled my EB Games preorder (nice that they let me do that over the phone) and took advantage of that. Australian stock so no two-week wait for me once the release date has arrived.

The white one is the small one. Being sold for $219.95. The XL is $249.95.
About the same price everywhere.

And I thought I'd stumbled upon a bargain. Good going me.
Oh well. I don't need two XLs so I think the smaller version will be sufficient.
Smaller one has SNES button colours which is a selling point on its own.

I love the SNES style colours, but the size is an issue; I currently have the original, and would really love the extra screen real estate.
Once you use an XL you'll never go back.
I'm in the same boat as you. I have the OG 3DS, but the N3DS with the SNES buttons is seriously making me want to get one. If only the N3DSXL came in the white/coloured buttons option as well...
New update out now. Themes are available. Amongst other system stability boring update shit too.

I don't believe either come with one.
Speaks volumes of Nintendo's expectation that most people purchasing this will already own some form of 3DS, and therefore, they're effectively admitting this isn't so much a new console/an attempt to increase their install base, so much as it is an attempt to draw as much money as possible from their current user base.
They've not included an AC adapter overseas for a while now, Australia is just catching up I guess.

Sigh ... what a missed opportunity. Nintendo getting sensitive means Binding of Isaac couldn't be ported to 3DS. This time I facepalmed but I'm an intolerant arseh*le.

Looking to pick up one of the new 3DS models early next year. Was leaning towards the XL version but its hard to ignore those cover plates on the standard. Found this pic of a Boo cover that glows in the dark.
Also really like that wood style mario one. Apparently Big W is selling that one for $19, the same as the others, when it's RRP is $39.

The cover plates + matching themes is a wallet murder waiting to happen! Personally speaking after getting used to my LL since launch it was a bit jarring to play the smaller version, even with the slightly bigger screen. (I still want the SNES buttons though)
Picked up the New 3DS on Friday. Coming from the original 3DS, the screen is so much better and slighty larger. I'm still getting used to where the Power and Start/Select buttons are, but definitely no complaints.
