This is really bad for Ukraine, Pokrovsk underpins the whole Donetsk front and if (when) it falls, its hard to see them recovering here.

Tbh I doubt they ever anticipated Russia would manage to fight through the immense fortifications east of it ... Adviivka etc.

They may yet have some master strike to come in Kursk ... Russian media has been "dooming" as they call it for ages and ages. One of the great myths is that Russian media on the war is some rah rah only good news allowed.

Western media is far more controlled and on message than Russian media on the war, any sense of balance was thrown out the window day one when there was collective barracking for Ukraine that simply hasn't ended.

It's actually a terrifying thing for anyone who genuinely cares about freedom of the press here.

An edited version was recorded for the general public.

“Gone was the reference to the refugees watching the Jews cultivate the lands from which they had been evicted, who should not be blamed for hating their dispossessors. Although he had uttered these lines at the funeral and written them subsequently, Dayan chose to omit them from the recorded version. He, too, had known this land before 1948. He recalled the Palestinian villages and towns that were destroyed to make room for Jewish settlers. He clearly understood the rage of the refugees across the fence. But he also firmly believed in both the right and the urgent need for Jewish settlement and statehood. In the struggle between addressing injustice and taking over the land, he chose his side, knowing that it doomed his people to forever rely on the gun“

Dozens of Israeli settlers have set fire to houses and cars in a village in the occupied West Bank, with the Palestinian health ministry saying at least one person has been killed.

SELANGOR: Forty-one Palestinian civilians who suffered various injuries in the war in Gaza were flown to Malaysia on Friday (Aug 16) for treatment, officials said.

The Palestinians, aged between eight months and 62 years, were flown to the majority Muslim nation from the Egyptian capital Cairo onboard two Malaysian air force transport aircraft

We carried out this mission purely on humanitarian considerations and to show our solidarity against what is happening to the people of Palestine," Malaysian Defence Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin told a news conference after receiving the patients.
"It also shows our nation's stand against this inhumane genocide."
Nordin said the injured were selected after a "careful evaluation" to ensure they were fit for the 19-hour flight that made a stopover in Karachi, Pakistan.
The injured were accompanied by 86 family members or next of kin.
