For me it goes back to when they first started the BBL and the Stars were owned by Eddie McGuire. Gave them a real Collingwood stench, which wasn't helped by the fact they kept choking in finals despite buying up our players (Voges, Stoinis, NCN etc...).

Everyone likes seeing the arrogant teams fail.

They also had Kevin Pietersen at the club for a few seasons as well who is also a very polarising person.

Bancroft and Cartwright were injured, but weren't doing much before that. Darcy Short has been mediocre for a few years now. Phillippe isn't coming back anytime soon either.

Scorchers need a pretty big reset. Top order hitting needs addressing as a priority. Just never put enough runs up this season.

Can’t really compete with the Melbourne clubs completely mismanaging their lists. Is probably their highest paid player on a 3 year deal at 35. He’s been great for us but time to move on. Not sure he’ll be as good away from Optus either so a huge gamble from the Gades
