He might be 3 years younger but unless Dorff wanted out, Agar shouldn’t have been signed on. Dorff is a match winner and front line bowler. Agars batting has fallen away, elite fielder but isn’t a huge wicket taker and more of a guy that complements a good core of pace bowlers

I think they want Head opening in the subcontinent but if Head opens you want a guy like Uzzie at the other end holding down the fort. Unlucky for Konstas but he’s definitely ingrained in that side

The guys not a test player… he won’t have a long test career unless he fixes his defence..

Also the slow low Sri Lankans decks probably aren’t made for his ramp shots.

Looks like Inglis is getting a debut. These opportunities rarely by and I really hope he can grab it by both hands. Also wondering when was the last time we picked a keeper as a specialist bat. Not including Wade when he came back into the test squad cause by that stage he was playing as a batsmen any way

I know Gilly played a few one dayers as a specialist bat before kicking Healy out of that job. Never in tests though.

Not really. His defence needs a lot of work if he was to become a test opener:.

The selectors already have questions by flicking him after two tests because he batted like a drunken sailor..

Anyone who's observed even a small sample size of Sheffield Shield scorecards would see that how Konstas played against India is not how he naturally plays. Up until the tests he was quite a conservative opener in the shield. It was obviously an Australian team directive to attack without fear. To judge him based on two tests where he didn't play his normal way is jumping the shark.
