Every other player - commentators: "nothing in that, he'll get off"

Lindsay - commentators: "past history. Hit him in the head"

I'd like to see a replay of that at a different angle. Looked weak as piss and like selwood was sandbagging it. More like "hey...look how tough i am, i don't need the stretcher".

Selwoods are a blight on the game. **** em.

Meh. It looks worse because we don't see bumps like that anywhere near as often. MRP and rule changes have just made them too costly to even try because of the 'had other options', 'elected to bump' and 'duty of care' clauses. Pretty sure first contact was to the shoulder/arm, but **** me LT went in hard. Don't think he could have gone in much lower either.

He'll most like cop something for it but I have no idea what.

Poor half by LT. Only knocked out one Selwood and certainly got the lesser of 2 evils. Oh well still plenty of time to turn that around with one moment of magic.

Bonus points for getting Dangerfield too.

BRERETON LEAPS TO LINDSAY THOMAS'S DEFENCE AFTER BUMP

HAWTHORN hard man Dermott Brereton has defender Lindsay Thomas for his high bump on Scott Selwood, declaring he doesn't believe there was any malice in the bump.

Thomas was playing his first game for the Power on Saturday night after being a late inclusion for young forward Todd Marshall but has found himself in hot water.

The bump will be heavily scrutinised by match review officer Michael Christian on Monday after it floored Selwood.

But while many were quick to calculate how many weeks Thomas will miss, Brereton leapt to the former Kangaroo's defence.

"He does turn his head to the ball ... he looks for where his opponent is and then he goes (for the bump)," Brereton said.

"In real time that looks bad but when you look at the slowed down verison, he's turning and looking to the ball.

"You are entitled to bump your opponent to keep them away from the ball and I believe that was his intention.

"He's looking there (at Selwood) and he's already turned looking for the ball just as contact is imminent."

If the bump is deemed intentional with medium impact to the head, he is looking at a two-match suspension, while international conduct with high impact is three-matches or more, including the possibility of a trip to the tribunal.

Brereton believes there is a case for it to be graded as careless but knows the penalty with take into account the medical report supplied by Geelong.

"I honestly think Lindsay wanted to put him out of the contest to win the ball, the same as the Cotchin issue (on Dylan Shiel from the preliminary final)," he told Fox Footy.

"I don't think there's a lot of malic in it but it does not look good.

"I'm on Lindsay's side a bit here. I don't think there's real malice in it that he wanted to go 'I've had enough of you and I want you out'.

"It might appear that way but I'm on Lindsay's side with this."
