2020 sucked for many reasons, but the more I think about the footy, the more of a * applies to it. The standard of football was appalling, the zero attendances made the games even more boring, the ten week break, the hubs and on a personal note, North were pathetic. Good on the Tigers for winning it, but even that must feel flat having not seen any games and winning in Brisbane in front of 28k.

As for the Suns. FMD. Why haven't we ever got a handle on them? Even in their early days we struggled. We're 8-9 against them. Only 1 win (the first) by over 40, 6 losses by over 40. Really need to beat them in a fortnight for Goldy's 300th.

The North scoreless quarter I remember most was in 2000 against *. The reigning premiers v the eventual premiers and they kicked 7.5-47 to our 0.0-0 in the first quarter. Not only did we not score, we failed to get the ball inside 50. Not once. The game evened out from there but we were thoroughly routed in that quarter.

Gold Coast were in the middle of a streak where they won 5 out of 6 games. And we were, of course, terrible last year, so it shouldn't be a surprise, really.

But yeah, an away game against GC in a bye week is our annual rogering.

They get their messages paraded around the online sphere and their hatred reaches far more people than it otherwise would've. It's like a metaphorical representation of fires needing oxygen to really take hold etc. It's obviously an appalling thing for the player to deal with but 'condemning' the hate doesn't do shit, and uneducated ****wits could just be more emboldened by the attention

Yea that's not really where I was going. My point is, if players put some sort of buffer between them and the public, like for example setting their profiles to private, and thus don't see the vile messages they receive unless they actively search for them, then it doesn't need to be posted. The racist ****wit 's message rots away in the recesses of Instagram and it gets no attention.

I would bet everything I have that these pricks love the attention. No attention, less incentive to do it again. Obviously it's different in real life at games, and people who yell that bilge should be banned for life, but online... You don't deal with trolls by airing their bullshit. They love that.

The vast majority of people won't send such hateful messages. The portion of the population that would send such messages if each message wasn't posted publicly and condemned is right around zero, I'd wager. And the ones who do send those messages don't give a shit what others think anyway. I don't see anything to suggest that condemnation reduces the likelihood of this continuing to happen.

If you can identify him/her I'd release their name and picture and say this is the person you employ, the person who rent a house to, the person who goes out with your kid etc. If they want their dribble to be public, here it is in full publicity.
