I met Angus once before he was drafted, seemed like a nice guy. Really sucks to lose him to the game but I'm glad he's made this decision for his health, and I'm glad the league is in a position now where concussion is taken seriously and measures like this are taken to prevent even worse brain damage.

Exactly one of the reasons why collision sports need to get better at protecting the heads of their athletes. Otherwise, retirements like this one will become more and more common. I just hope he's able to live a full life from this point on.

Snake, buffalo, cockatoo for me. Learned that in Sumba, Indonesia.

Snake can kill buffalo. Buffalo can kill cockatoo. Cockatoo can kill snake.

Bugger. He was a good footy player. Wonder how Maynard's feeling today.

A real annus horribilis for the Melbourne FC.
Makes me wonder if he will consider legal action against Maynard / AFL Ala Neville Bruns …particularly when
A ) scan today revels that his brain scan has further deteriorated from this event…..leading to future health problems..
B) AFL rushed in change after this inccident
C) his bros comments weren’t far off last year…

Looking in from the outside he looked like a great guy……

It’s sad to hear the news regarding Brayshaw but my brain also started to think…..is this gonna expedite more ****ery from the AFL when it comes to head knocks?

It’ll get a point in which play will stop for every head knock or we may lose tackling all together in the game. How bout this…..no more aerial marking?

Concussion has become a huge buzz word around the world in recent years and it’ll slowly destroy the sports we love.

If you look at the list of players recently retired and players currently in the system struggling with symptoms it’s pretty frightening.
We have to get serious about it and make changes where possible to eliminate risks.

Rule changes to tackling have been good, but players who break them need to hit with bigger sanctions.
