Nothing wrong with taking the 3 if it's there I guess, but the play look like it was drawn up that way. That's the bit I don't like. Drawing up a play for a 3 when down 1.
They over played the screen

I dare say option 1 was westy to rack. George was option 2 and then take whatever the defense gives you

Are OKC the second best team in the West?

Their defence is outstanding, and they're destroying teams on the boards. Jerami Grant doing a great job in the Roberson role.

They still can't shoot a lick, but it doesn't seem to worry them at present.

That's because they have a big man who actually plays under the basket and blocks out.

Adams certainly helps, but I don't think it's necessarily a correlation of playing 'traditionally'.

Take the top 10 defensive teams:

OKC - Adams - traditional big

Boston - Horford - not exactly traditional, just a cerebral defender

Indy - Myles Turner - new school centre, but a definite paint deterrent

Denver - Jokic - definitely from the new school

Memphis - Gasol - old school

Milwaukee - Bropez - something of a mix between old and new

Toronto - Valanciunas/Ibaka/Siakim - probably at their best when their most 'traditional' centre, Valanciunas, doesn't start.

Detroit - Drummond - old school

Lakers - McGee - in a category all of his own

Philly - Embiid - mostly old school, albeit still shooting a lot of threes.

Where it gets interesting is whom the nominal centre for a team is paired with. The next best defence is Utah's, and they are the perfect example - they've had THE traditional pairing of Gobert and Favors, and it hasn't worked for them this season. They look far better both offensively and defensively when Crowder plays 'smallball' four and Favors spells Gobert. Eg. - just look at how well Favors did playing full-time C after Gobert got ejected today.

Of course this can be fleshed out further - it matters enormously how well your perimeter players defend, eg. Boston, or Toronto, and also how well your team's traditional bigs can deal with switching and staying in front of guards on the perimeter. It's no good being a great shot blocker if you're being consistently burned by guards in the pick and roll. This is one reason why Dwight is almost playing his way out of a job, despite being a 'traditional' big.

Marv said the Knicks beat the Celtics at the end of the game despite the Knicks losing by 30, but managed to absolutely nail all of the sponsor messages like clockwork.

Just Marv things.

I wonder if we can use it in a trade for a point guard?

Add a few talking sticks and you'll be swamped with offers.

Reckon the worst move McDonough ever made was that trade with Sactown. Bogdanovic isn't a point guard, but the dude can pass the rock.

That is another great trade for the Cavs, getting rid of another old guy and a spud like Dekker for a big that we really needed.

Altman doing some nice things recently.

So glad to see Dekker gone, unbelievable he was getting 30 mins a game while Nwaba rotted on the bench under Lue
