Ekoku is awful just negative most of the time. Don't mind Beglin, don't mind Matt Holland, Townsend is passable. The rest are terribleEkoku goes alright. Don't mind Jim Beglin.
Then there's the great man, Danny Mills.
Robbie Savage is the worst of any. He does mainly Man United games, but obviously any English team games for the Champions League/Europa's and the bias and bullshit that comes out of him is unreal. He's an overexcited fan basically.
When you fish for trout and end up with carp...Ekoku is awful just negative most of the time. Don't mind Beglin, don't mind Matt Holland, Townsend is passable. The rest are terrible
And many of the experts that have played the game are horrible commentators. It's almost as if playing men's football at a high level isn't a prerequisite for being able to commentate on it well.
It's not a prerequisite for anyone but you.Playing or managing at the level of the game they are commenting on is generally a prerequisite for being an expert pundit. Of course it doesn't guarantee their analysis is any good, but at least they have experienced the game at that level. There are no women who have played at anything like the standard of the Premier League or men's international games. Yet there are several expert women pundits for those games. Former women's players might be able to provide better insights into women's football than a man.
Let's be very generous and say the standard of top level women's football is about National League. Where are the men who have played League 2 or above and want to pursue a career in TV punditry?
Never heard of him. When you fish for trout and end up with carp...
But how good is that Danny Mills!
but the elusive trout I seek has!Never heard of him.

I wonder why there is that pre-requisite. Some of the best commentators in other sports haven't played at the highest level. Only seems football has this requirement.
Yeah Beglin, Holland and Towsend all very good.Ekoku is awful just negative most of the time. Don't mind Beglin, don't mind Matt Holland, Townsend is passable. The rest are terrible
As I said, I'm talking about the expert pundits not the presenters or main commentator. Gabby Logan does a fine job of presenting MOTD. She's as qualified for the job as Mark Chapman or Conor McNamara. The expert analysts in the studio are always men who have played and/or managed in the Premier League. Owen, Wright, Shearer, Berbatov, Hoddle, Deeney. Their experience gives them credibility.
But for the in game co-commentator expert we are getting people who haven't played at anything like PL standard. The fact that they are women rather than former pros who have played in League 1 or 2 supports Barton's claim that there's an element of DEI hiring happening. Surely he should be able to express that view without the police getting involved.
Don't be daft, he hasn't played the game at the required level..I’d rather listen to some sports journos like Jonathan Wilson than any of the special comments guys we get through Optus. They’re all ordinary and seem out of touch with the game
Was it Frank that had issues with female lead characters in certain film/tv genre's?
FtfyWas it Frank that had issues with females?
I quite like Hoddle.I'd rather listen to an expert that's never watched a game of football than the likes of Hoddle, Owen etc.
He could always express his view without comparing people to mass murderers. And without focusing exclusively on women.
I'm sure the police couldn't give a toss about the sexist arseh*le if he tried that.
The fact you answered by asking a question confirms you know what one is. All I did was ask a question, if it wasn't you then no need to be upset. Was it Art who did a cowardly drive-by rather than engage in either the sporting or media discussion?
Take it up in the film/TV threads maybe.
