Part 4 is here:

I didn't say that at all?

I said we should have used these months to buy necessary equipment, to get a strong number of staff, and to consult medical experts on ways we can control the virus and open up.

(but also I do belive we shouldn't cripple the absolute majority of the population for the elderly anyway – not that we have to, but yeah).

Oh "control the virus and open up". It's all so easy. Makes you wonder why the rest of the world didn't just control it.

Scott Morrison has been pleading with McClown to show some compassion and let more people return for months.

where in that article does it state months - international borders and quarantine are the responsibility of the federal government. They have a fleet of planes sitting idle at airports, they have the facilities to quarantine but instead pass it off to states to handle

Article dated 14th September
“Sunday marked two months since Prime Minister Scott Morrison introduced a cap of just under 4,000 international arrivals per week. He made the move in response to the country's second coronavirus wave, which was sparked by a hotel quarantine security scandal.
The cap has resulted in a barrage and backlog of canceled flights, with ticket prices skyrocketing.”

and a letter overseas residents received but yer, let’s blame McGowan

**** everyone stuck overseas. They were told when this all started that they would need to come home before the borders were closed or face not being able to get back in for an uncertain period of time. Now so many want to come back and are whinging because they can't. **** em.

Perth is in a rare position. it can basically start from scratch with six months information on the virus, how people react to it, all these stats and data.

other countries cannot shut down for so many reasons, they're on the back foot and pretty much ****ed regardless of what they do.

why can't Perth be a leader? it's a city of 2 million people in a first world country, one of the biggest 15 economies on earth, heaps of intelligent people here...

Stockholm syndrome

Stockholm syndrome

How? I have no sympathy for anyone that ignored the Government directive and are now paying the price. Just because I am not a Clive Palmer sycophant that feels the need to bash the State Government for every little decision whether I agree with them or not, doesn't mean I have Stockholm Syndrome.

What if you had a job, working overseas, providing for your family, and even when countries went into lockdowns you were able to work from home in said country. Then 3-4 months later the business you work for makes you redundant. You have no job and are overseas.
you couldnt come home back then as you had no job lined up.

The Federal government as early as March urged all Australians to return home. They were pretty blunt about it.

If you thought you could tough it out despite the PM urging you six months ago to come home as soon as possible - well, tough luck.

This Spitty Alpaca dude has a massive agenda spouting all that shit - must indeed be Fat Yak.

So Come home and go on welfare?

this, the federal government has the power to handle quarantine but have handballed it off to the states. imo the numbers coming in should be higher than it is, but neither the feds or the states should be claiming the high ground on it

And not all countries that people were working in at the time allowed them to leave and the government is indeed abrogating their duty now.

I understand people not coming home - they had contracts to fulfil, tenancy agreements and circumstances change but it’s a pretty tough call trying to find a solution that works for everyone.

It must be a logistical nightmare for airlines and govts. Across the world - I’m straight up saying it’s not a job I envy

What's the upside? Holidays?

Even if your figure is correct - tell the people who lose a family member: "Hey, we wanted Chrissy holidays our the family interstate. Sorry about your nan".
Nan is more likely to die from the flu or pneumonia tomorrow. Including mine

I thought the government directive in the initial stages was that if you have a job overseas and can avoid travelling immediately to stay abroad? Happy to be corrected but it seems without acknowledging timeframes or mechanisms for how long people were expected to stay away the whole situation has been fraught with miscommunication.

The government stated it no uncertain terms for Australians to return home, period, six months ago. Bad luck if you chose to ride it out but it was the risk you took.
You are looking at this with september hindsight. Noone knew at that time what the next six months would pan out to be. Imagine having a dream job in say NZ with Your wife and kids there and a lease on house and you cancelled it and all the costs associated with it.
Come back to australia and you and wife then go on dole. And 3 months later after hard lockdowns NZ successfully eliminates virus and you could have stayed And kept your job and house.
It’s never simple.
