The fact none of you can seemingly take any criticism of Perth probably reflects on your insecurity.

Insecurity suggests inferiority, and I don't believe those living in Perth believe the city and state they live in to be inferior, so I don't think it's the right term.

WA has always had, and always will have, an us vs them mentality. We only joined the Commonwealth because of the t'othersiders living in the Goldfields. We didn't secede when we voted to because we didn't know how to go about it. Any slight on WA, real or imagined, from the rest of Australia will further that mentality, and after this many years it is hard to see it going away when it has been reaffirmed over and over. The reasons behind that mentality have probably changed over the years, but it has not disappeared.

People wanting to see others burnt alive. Wow. People in the east say Perth's 15 years behind; maybe 500 is more accurate?
Plenty of people with the same mindset on the east coast. I've lived in Sydney for a fair amount of time to have seen that. The stuff I read on social media from eastern states friends is a classic example of the attitude being widespread.

You reactionary tool with blood thirst !!!
Guilty, Your Honour.

Proudly flying the flag for all of us "lowest common denominators".

The absolute biggest Thunderclap I've ever heard woke me up at about 3.30am - dog has been terrified all day and all night. Was real fun looking out the window over the ocean in my bed at 3 am last night though
:(
The dogs can hear the storm coming well before we can. Ours was trying to run down the road after my car and I had to reverse back and lock him up in the garage till I got home :( Not looking forward to a week of this.

But surely it's pretty barbaric to want them burned alive. Of course it's an appalling act and there's repercussions and you've gotta do the time, but tortured?!

I mean that's some pretty heinous wish. It's not them dying, it's them dying in potentially the most painful way. I don't understand that thinking as well. It's like those people who want rapist r*ped in prison or castrated by an onion mincer or something.

The interesting thing is, it's always the lowest common denominator who love this tit-for-tat mentality. The ones out the front of courts are the ones who tune into Channel 7 every night, too.
Settle down- it's just for laffs. I wouldn't hurt a fly. I certainly wouldn't want to see anyone burned alive.

*wouldn't mind seeing a rapist get castrated by an onion mincer. You're having us on, aren't you? You really do have some weird thoughts about punishment, there, bro ;) and you reckon that WE'RE sick

Tell me more about this 'lowest common denominator', SA. I'm not sure I understand what you're saying we are like.

Also so many volunteers set these things but of course volunteers are just total altruists
I think there are a SMALL amount of volunteers who set the fires- but why not blow things out of proportion and say MANY of them do it? It makes a better story that way.
VERY FEW fires would be set by volunteers
VERY FEW volunteers would light up a bushfire.

Can I join the LCD group, too? It appears that I'm already a member but I just want to have confirmation that I'm "IN" ;)
Why not? There's so many of us, one more can't hurt.

Luckily for you, we're based in Perth. You can attend all our rallies, seminars, fist waving workshops and our family fun days. We have rides, stalls, bouncy castles and face painting for the kids. Dead set shits all over the Royal Show.

Thanks, FF. That's very kind of you!
I'm not into crowds - absolutely hate the Royal Show for that reason. Hopefully there's room in the LCD group for me without it getting uncomfortably overcrowded.

Too late. We're everywhere.

Well I just found out my dog has a cancerous tumour so hopefully the storms are the least of her worries

That is really sad to hear - I feel your pain.

They've taken out the tumour but Vet thinks it may have spread already

She's only 8 years old
Bugger! :(
8 is way too young. We lost our dog at 12, from lymphoma. It's devastating for everyone in the family when a family pet is seriously ill. I hope you manage to get some decent time together before she eventually gives up the fight. Sometimes these things can take ages for the dog to actually give in.
