Brendon Gale and Knighter.

Felt sorry for Dragacevic. Shocking stuff.

Im holding my breath regards Browny.

If he can't make it back to his best or close to his best I think as Wally says it maybe curtains.

Would hate to see him struggle:thumbsdown:

Raines & Cloke in the 80's (I had the no.4 on the jumper)

Stuart Maxfield,
He was a really important player for us in "95"
Watched " A Tiger Tale" the other night, he was a real impact player for the tigers during that season in particular.

Benny Gale,
Underated by all but Richmond fans.

Yer i agree, i brought that for my mum for mothers day 96' haha, the emotional music and the shots of all the players injured is funny as, my family is half melbourne half richmond so i have a soft spot for richmond.

What happened to Stephen Jurica & Stuart Wigney??

I'm really suprised no one has mentioned Craig Lambert, and I think we got nothing for him. He would have been awesome in 95 with Knighter, Broders, Campbell etc...

I have absolutely no doubt that had "sheep" stayed at punt rd. , it would have been the difference in all those "Ninths"

Cambo and Knights were consistenly picked off for years by the really good sides because of our lack of depth and support in the midfield for those two ... CL would have made an enourmous difference , him and Tony Free ..

good point thats why if we are to be any good we need another of axles quality to enter the fray and stand up

Apart from the Raines n Cloke departures, which tore the gizzards outta this club and set us back 25 years, (not like I'm at all bitter about it!), I was also pissed off when BT went. Watchin him work with Disco was great and could have been akin to Dunstall n Ablett if it had the chance to develop. Well IMHO...lol I was also a big big Brett Evans fan, primarily because of his penchant for some biffo but it gave us balls, good old fashioned VFA stuff. A lot walked taller with him around.

Definately Stewie Maxfield. I couldn't believe the Tigers would give him up and keep Naish. Was good to see he went on and had success in Sydney!

Justin Charles was one of my favourites too, was such a shame he did what he did and ended up retiring early

Finally, Knights should have been able to go out on his own terms, especially after the years of service he gave the Tigers.

ohhh Benny Gale that guy was Mr. Reliable. every time he would run back to take a mark right in front of the opposition foward. saved our asses many times.

and Knighta, i cried when he did his lap of honour. what i would give to see the little no. 33 still running around for the tigers (hartigan shouldnt be allowed to wear it)

Give it to Foley after last nights goal from the centre square. Bleach that hair, spike it up and you would have sworn you were watching the '95 semi final against the Bombers!!!

Seems this thread has been going on for ages and lots of great players being mentioned.

For me, without doubt Royce Hart's retirement, considering these days it would have been a case of a knee reco and back to his old self 12 months later, was the saddest.

Of course there were many other fantastic players whose careers were cut short by knee injuries that meant 'game over' for them back then, but none were as tragic for the Richmond football club as Harts IMHO.

He was the reason I started supporting the Tiges. We came to Melb from Sydney when I was 5 and had no relatives and my father had no interest in footy. For me, watching Royce Hart play was simply inspiring. Although a rover myself, I should have been looking up to Hungry and some of the other great rovers around at that time (nearly did end up a hawks supporter...ouch!!). But there was no other choice for me but to demand a Tigers jumper with a number 4 on the back from Santa.

He did lead the Tigers to great success but sadly cut down in his prime at 27 and would have loved to have seen the champion clamping his sticky fingers and pulling in pack marks and going back and punting them through time and time again into the late 70's.

Thanks for the memories Royce! (Although hungry's 7 goals in 1980 was a special moment too!).
