Re: Pods: GAWN

you talking to me?

If so, maybe you should "give it a rest". I'm giving my opinion. If you and your Geelong amigo's are so thin-skinned to take that as trolling or celebrating or cheerleading, then take the chip off your shoulder. I'm calling it as I see it.

I've had Pods in my SC all year, and like the guy. I think this was out of character. But if you think he's beyond reproach and anyone criticising is trolling or celebrating or whatever the ****, then get a thicker skin, yes?

Out of character? For goodness sake it wasn't a deliberate bump, he was simply late to the ball, and he tried to pull up. Will get weeks given the system, but don't go acting like it was some deliberate snipeage of something.

Re: Pods: GAWN

Yeah, nah, nothing to see here, move along. Thought it was a bit rough but not really as bad as you describe.

P.S Carlton's small forwards did nothing because they didn't all play on a smaller ground. And you lost because...your forward line was not functioning well.
Edited for accuracy

Pods was stationary and just made a clumsy lunge for the ball while making minimal contact to Gibb's noggin. The contact was exaggerated by Gibbs to ensure the free was given but was quick to bounce to his feet and take the free-kick.

A bit silly by Pods to put himself under scrutiny but he was not reported so the umpires didn't think there was much in it.

Re: Pods: GAWN

2. He has carry over points doesn't he? If he got 1 Geelong would be laughing.

Yes he does...if you calculate it he might get 225 point + 60 carryover, means with early guilty plea it'll still be 2. I'd be happier with that than 4.

Re: Pods: GAWN

2-3 weeks max hopefully. Looked worse then it probably was.

On the Hunt one, he shouldn't get anything. If it was malicious in any way, Waite would have a broken neck. Hunt did him a favour by putting him on his back. It was just a slinging tackle. A spear tackle is like the one Burgoyne did a couple of years ago (I think it was Peter, not sure.)

Re: Pods: GAWN

it's a minor consideration. Impact relates to the force of the hit. NOT the reaction to the player. Otherwise why did Judd get off despite causing half a dozen stitches? Because the force of the impact was (ridiculously) deemed not enough to constitute a strike. The resulting injury of the player is only a minor consideration in the judgement. That's why Ryder got a week for a love tap to the jaw of that Hawthorn player in Round 22 last year

Injury is a factor in determining penalty.

That is why a Doctor's report is sent to the MRP - And a significant factor in Cotchin getting 4 weeks.

My first thought was 2 weeks, without taking into account his 60 carryover points

Re: Pods: GAWN

thanks copern. They only showed it once, and then judd getting up with what looked like 2 inch gash on the forehead, but not once was it replayed, and Judd went off without blood rule, so don't know.

Re: Pods: GAWN

he dropped his hip straight into Gibbs' oncoming head. Couldn't be a more blatant example of the exact type of incident the AFL have been cracking down on for the last few years.

No force? Are you accusing Gibbs of diving? You must be, as Gibbs was thrown backwards by the impact

Perhaps Pods should get 1 or 2 due to negligence, however, my issue is with Gibbs throwing himself back - the AFL needs to stamp out this growing practice - IMO the best way to stop diving/acting is to have post-match video reports with a mandatory minimum 3 match suspension for 1st offence where there has been blatant and obvious diving/acting....

Re: Pods: GAWN

a 50m should have been paid and 1 week at the most. IMO there was no intent from Pods to injure, he was unsure how to attack the ball and ended up making a poor (and stupid) decision. Penalize him with the 50m
Since when did it matter if he had no intent to injure? Its the sort of incident that can break peoples necks and thats bump is a perfect example of what the AFL want out of the game.

Re: Pods: GAWN

Pods: Head high bump - 3 weeks - Reckless Conduct, High Contact, Medium Impact
Hunt: Sling Tackle - 2 weeks - Reckless Conduct, High Contact, Medium Impact

You can argue whether or not they should be penalised till the cows come home, but the way the MRP has been cracking down on these two particular offences I would expect the following penalties.

love it.and it sure looked like minimal contact, and a huge dive from gibbs.

every team has players who do this, and its a blight on the game.

I'm with you on this one, although if there's one club who shouldn't complain about opponents diving, it's Geelong. They're the gold medallists.

Re: Pods: GAWN

probably will get 3, which would mean he is out until GF day if they win their Qualifying Final, and by extension - probably the season.

Rd22, QF, (if win QF) PF
Rd22, QF, (if we loose QF) SF.

So with 3 his season isn't over 4 on the other hand

Minimum 3 weeks....

but will no doubt get the automatic Victorian playing in the finals reduction...so 1 week
