Fremantle have actually figured out that repeatedly drafting first round picks gives us the best chance of sustained success and we are sticking to that plan.
in the last 5 years we have created over a quarter of our starting 18 in top 10 picks drafted alone, now including Aish and Brodie makes it half the starting team.

Pick 6, 8, Young, Serong, Henry, Brayshaw, Logue, Aish and Brodie (really wish I could be writing Cerra here still)

That is just top 10 talent! Players in their draft year who were chosen as being in the 10 best players of their year, which says to me that the talent exists in these players and it's about extracting it. With our young culture building with JLo's more human and relationship style of coaching I think it's a good chance we at least get a fair bit of that talent functioning together.
Lol add Johnson to this list considering he was widely tipped as a first rounder certainty and a top 10 pick. Stupid levels of talent coming out of this crop. We just need the right chef to mix these ingredients and cook them into the perfect premiership pie.

SO MUCH DEPTH 🤩

I don’t think that there is even 1 field position where we don’t have someone AFL ready and talented in the wings champing at the bit for a run . Some fairly fresh faces but give them a couple of years and we almost have a whole new team to roll out if required

It's been a big turn around since 2018. The future looks so bright!

Its the lack of serious injuries, with a strong 22.
Haven't had that since 2013, and I think this core is better than that team
Don’t tempt the injury gods
I’m turning to religion if it means us winning a premiership

I think we had that last year untill the pre season game with wce. Then we lost like 5 forwards between that game till round 1, then we lost Hamling and Pearce in the first game of the season.

Better spread of talent & better support cast but that 2013 team had Pav, Sandi, McPharlin, MJ, S Hill, Fyfe, Barlow, Mundy, Ballas, Duff, Ibbo.
The first 3 were arguably the greatest we’ve ever had.
This team could be better but they need to go one better than 2013 to live up to it.

Too much was asked of too few in 2013.
Ballas may as well have stayed in Perth for that GF, Fyfe kicking for goals etc
Mundy is far and away the most consistent player we've had bar Pavlich, cue 2013 GF, when Mundy, 211 and Sonny got us going in that 3rd quarter.
Mundy, Fyfe, Serong, Darcy, Brayshaw, Ryan, Sonny, Chapman, Young, Cox, Pearce, and Hamling
Serious talent there

I rate the sub Ross Lyon made was the blunder that cost the game.
Ballas should have been subbed out instead of Clarke.
Wrong thread.

Really really enjoying our current team .
I don’t want to go too early but geez we have got exciting young players who look committed to the cause right through the list .

Want to see more footy in real games to confirm that it’s not a hallucination because the way we are moving the ball is so Undockery 😬

Brad Sheppard has watched Fremantle grow from a side wedded to the middle of the AFL ladder to its current status as a team to watch in 2022.
He’s often had the best seat in the house - propped across West Coast’s half-back line in western derbies - and he believes the hype around the Dockers’ 2022 prospects is justified.
“They are building something pretty special down at Fremantle,” the retired West Coast defender says.
“With the young talent coming in, they have drafted well the last couple of years and have got some high-end talent and those guys have got 50 to 100 games now.
“They are starting to believe that they can run it with the best in the AFL.
“Even though they are established players now, like Caleb Serong and Andy Brayshaw, I feel like they will explode this year.”
Defensive depth and an expanding core of midfield talent should ensure there is enough supply to a forward line still growing.
Sheppard says “diversity” is the key.
“And they have a really good diversity in their list,” he says.
“I think they are on track to have a pretty good year. They take the game on and have speed across every line.”

Came from a Freo supporting family did Shep and will be a reasonable person in the media if he is going that way.

We’ll done to Joel Hamling for getting back from what was obviously a very serious injury. He’ll get better with each game he plays & it was great to see him out there on the weekend.
A real positive from a disappointing weekend, one that we must learn from & never let happen again.
