The pre finals bye

hate the pre-finals bye. kills the momentum of the season and hurts the teams who win in the qualifying finals. Who cares if people rest in the last game of the home and away season? If they can, they deserve to be able to do so. betting companies be dammed.

I didnt hate the grand final bye. If the AFL want a bye, then that is the time for me.

Can't stand it as it takes away the advantage of a top 4 side winning in the first week of finals. In fact it makes it harder for the top 4 sides that win as it means they are only going to play 1 game of football in 3 weeks which ruins any continuity a team may have.
I think they are running at about 50/50 in prelims with the pre finals bye.

The players demand a 2nd bye and I prefer it the week before finals. Its too long to wait 2 weeks between the prelims just for 1 more game. It kills too much momentum. All 4 teams in the prelims will already be isolating as much as possible to avoid covid

It's certainly helped you and the Dogs in 2016 make the GF 😉
Geelong looked so flat in that 1st quarter of the PF against the Swans.

The bye before the grand final was horrible.
Pre-finals bye is fine.
Concussion protocol alone is enough of a reason for a grand final bye for me.

I hate byes at any time. Manage your lists better. The Cats are great at this, they rotate their squad in and out of the firsts all season, rest players when needed. It's not rocket science. If you get injured or concussed, tough luck, it's part of the game.
