Watching Browny
AFL Club
Brisbane Lions
OK it's bye week for us now so here is something to keep you going if your team has already played:

http://www.youtube.com/v/tx7cd5rENuQ

doesnt matter whether you think browny is overrated or whatever, but who can argue with that mark!

obviously im biased but i have to agree with SOS, does it get better than that? Would take that over Sampi's (for example) any day.

If only the young lions midfield could kick it to Brownys advantage once in a while...

p.s. sorry, dont know how to put the vid straight into the post

riewoldts and browns are quite similar. i remember the distance riewoldt made to get to that contest and watching him fly in an unorthodox fashion made it worthwhile. it just beats riewoldts due to the height of where the mark was taken. sampi is a different mark in a different situation but is perfected in its type. good jump, good leap and good grab. didaks from a few years back (bruce screaming diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidak!) and moorcrofts are in the lead atm for marks of this century. robbos had a good few in the past few years as well.

Riewoldts is a poor man's version of that one. when the marking player is practically standing next to the guy that kicks it that is just nuts.

Riewoldts was good too, very very good.
RW was moving twice as fast and fully horizontal with the ground, much more athletic, Browns was 'just' pure courage, RWs was courage and skill. But hey, lets not argue, as both are 2 of the very best that will be seen for a long time.:thumbsu:

Till the next time someone decides death is favourable to playing the rest of the game out in this manner.

As much as i love Browny i don't the it is a "decision" but more pure instinct - Browny is boardering on that wonderful place where courage and stupidity meet...

At some stage it was a decision.
Football isn't instinctual it's habitual, when is the last time it was necessary over the course of existence to dive headlong into a bunch of guys to grab an oddly shaped ball to secure the survivability of a species.
Ok sure there may of been that one time but surely that was just the exception.

Round 22 1995, Melbourne vs. Brisbane -

David Neitz kicks from 55-metres out, it was a good kick, and SHAUN SMITH stands on Garry Lyon & Richard Champion's shoulders in the goal-square... that is and forever will be the mark of the century:

Look for yourself and see what you reckon, I do rate Brown and Reiwoldt's marks very highly though... but Smith's was better

Wrong century...

Bah Tarrant rode his own player, sure Burton gets a fair ride pretty often.
Riewoldt is far better Brown isn't higher Riewoldt covers a hell of a lot more ground.

a bit like Bartel's ;) - he tried to grab Darcy before he kicked it.

Bartel's is about 42 secs into this video, and Riewoldt's a couple of marks later....
