Disagree with the Dusty/Tambling comparison ...He's got a long way to reach that status...As for your Richos & Brownies well they are a bit like hen's teeth. To me they should be the cream. The full team contribution is the way to go . Not relying on getting one or 2 stars to carry the team & doesn't allow the primaDonna's to hold the club to ransom either. For the record I'd love another Cho, but not many about with that link to our club who would also genuinely love it as well....

Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy to see everyone on the park in Richmond jumper doing something good ... but the sad fact is that there are still too few games where anyone steps up when the game is in the balance. Too often, it's Chris Judd, Joel Selwood, etc. who swing the game in the opposition's favour. This is why we're reliving 2012.

Richmond way I have not seen since 1980...Watched a lot of rubbish, seen a lot of prima donnas, read a whole lot of absolute rubbish from the key board warriors. We are SOFT nothing like tigers of old.It annoys the hell out of me... Richmond way its so embarassing, and disrespectful to players who did it the Richmond way...We disrespected Jack Dayer & Tom Hafey they bring back our champions to let them see how soft and shamful we are.Been on the boundry when they trot them out...no one really knows who they are put them in front of the goals and take a picture.REALLY??
Put them in a car show some respect tell the kids of their greatness....I wonder each week how pumped up the old players would have been with the jungle drums etc So over this lot

Using embarrassing quips like "the Richmond way" and any other manner of absurd one liners to reference us by, and also the endless cliches, is indicative of how basic this bloke is. Get him out at the end of the year.

"We pride ourselves on..."
"We're better than that..."
"Looking forward to the challenge...."
"Challenge this...challenge that..."
"We know our best is good enough..."

There are four key steps to create the Richmond way

1 bottom out and get some great young kids to the club

2 suddenly start winning games we shouldn't have

3 make the finals and build massive expectations

4 smash those expectations into the dirt

Pretty much hit all our KPIs

Seems to be how many remember things harimal12 . Hard, tough bleed for the club& eachother. I think many these days in the era of the pro many question those things. I remember Jack Dyer when asked about his fearsome rep saying he got it because he couldn't change direction because his knees were shot. would say to his own team mates, Don't get in my way because I won't be able to stop. That's at least in part how he got his Cap't Blood rep....Players aren't soft the physical conditioning is better today but so are the hits heavy & tackles. It's just these days there aren't as many open punches being thrown Like Balmey used to. AFL won't tolerate it, hasn't for a while...Anyway I'm as frustrated as the next Tiger, hope the club can turn things around. It's certainly getting harder to stay upbeat...I just try to remember these are young people we are talking about with lives & families. I want to see them play with honesty & compete, but I don't want any players getting hurt (like the number of ACL's over the last few seasons)....:)

I can't stand it either when Dimma rolls out this 'The Richmond Way' bullshit. For starters I wish someone from the club could articulate exactly what this is as to the casual observer it would seem something like:

- Play an unimaginative, boring & safe brand of football and only release the handbrake when the game is all but lost.

- Start the game with a +1 in defence since conceding the same in our forward line isn't an issue given our awesome forward line set-up and our forwards actually prefer having to lead to the pockets and scoring goals from there.

- Refer to the video tape and stats. Regurgitate these to the long-suffering members who will appreciate the insight ...

- Overload players with information and theory in an attempt to weed out any natural instinct or ability.

- Guard space and corral opposition players. Try not to be accountable for a man or win a tackle count if possible.

- Follow the correct order in moving the ball:

1. Hand pass to a player within 8cm of you; preferably backwards or sideways
2. Kick the ball backwards or sideways over as little distance as possible
3. Run around the back of the player used at either #1 or #2 to receive ball back
4. Repeat #1 or #2. Repeat again
5. Only look inside the corridor or forward as a last resort

- Wait until half-time to make any positional changes. There's too much going on when the game is in motion.

- Make no excuses in press conferences and when everyone falls under the spell, start making excuses like injuries (refer to start of the 2014 season for instructions).

- Eradicate debt and call on the unbelievable generosity of the Tiger Army again so we can:

- Provide a training ground for assistant coaches that want to get into AFL football. No experience necessary.

- Appoint a Football Manager also with no prior experience to oversee our $50m operation.

- Get a Part-Time VFL coach to head up our next generation of stars.

- Find a fitness coach who has a balanced philosophy on high performance management (ie one that ensures the players have not one stand out trait such as speed, endurance or strength).

- Refer to the video tape and stats. Regurgitate these to the long-suffering members who will appreciate the insight ...

- In step with the football dept traineeship & development program, appoint a female lawyer that has migrated from the USA to become our President to appease the split in the board who too have NFI about football.

- Under no circumstances make changes to the football dept like other clubs such as Port Adelaide, Bulldogs, Melbourne, Adelaide and Fremantle did. We must be seen as stable irrespective of results.

- Refer to the video tape and stats. Regurgitate these to the long-suffering members who will appreciate the insight ...

- Continuously refer to 'The Richmond Way'. Our record of past success will make this easily identifiable.
Best post ever written on Bigfooty!

I would just like to see some honesty from the players.

"The Richmond Way"...I guess all we want to know what it is??? Is there anyone who will take some degree of responsibility for this and show us the WAY...???

True...but does that start with the players coaches, management or all of them. Wonder what their commitment is to eachother & shared goals...To me that's what leadership is about & if there is a lack of commitment from any party. It can take a while to work it out & move them on...If that's what's needed...But I'm only guessing tbh...

Great post.

I cant argue with any of it.

This really hits home hard. It staggers me how they could cheap out in our football department and think it would all be ok.
What happened to the board review and looking at ensuring Dimma had the right support around him?

I'm surprised we didn't get a couple of experienced quality assistance's in this year.

Exclusive footage from the Auditorium of the Richmond way being explained.
