You know, people keep talking about the Richmond way, but I think some need to digest we simply have a better team on the weekend. Geelong had a few out but we had a better team to I think, a better mix apart from a better combination
Now , don't get me wrong, the players don't just rock up and win. They have to give maximise effort,
I just think guys like Graham and Broad and even Ralphsmith are under loved and Ross can be thrown in their two. What these guys provide is run. We simply are able to run more and cover the ground more and play a different better way allowing Cotch and Martin to do their thing in the forward line making our unit stronger.
Ross is a better player and I think he can be better again if he takes on fitness mantra. I just think the more Ross gut runs the better he can be. Ralphsmith is getting better to which is only natural as he develops with experience. Graham and Broad also provide a bit of added starch and gives our mix more flexibility
We are not a team of superstars so when we add a few better players in that compliments the others it makes a world of difference I think. It is where Taranto makes such a difference because his work and run helps the rest of the players in their other roles massively. I think this is rubbing off on Ross because the more he can cover the ground the greater impact the rest of our team lifts with him to. In this regard I am interested in how Sam Banks can develop more in this area to possibly give us even more run and further energy and options

The weekend was a great example of performance overcoming politics, bit like 2017 when things become more organic.
So for players, like Taranto, they might think you are outside 150 but if you put out more they cannot ignore you, further more wins after wins and when winning premierships it does not matter
Like against West Coast, politics does not matter who your playing and others narrative, if your better and the trend suggests you may be able to overcome Geelong. So for all the players where others are talking you down or not doing the right thing, if you keep being part of winning teams, making a difference, it is hard for them to ignore you forever. So for guys like Ross and Ralphsmith and others work harder, contribute more, despite a way, and they cannot ignore you any longer and drop you, same with the other players. Guess what 2017, was not supposed to happen, it was accidental, Griffiths got injured and we had no forward line, you never know what can happen if you start winning. They might not think your fashionable, they might think you are not in a top 150, it does not matter if your enabling winning teams to keep winning, no matter what the way if you win, win win win so winning becomes the way and the driving factor. I can't take the players to the promised land like I wrote, but the players can in their own way and exploits.
So what is the mythical Richmond way??
Well empirically for me the Richmond way is Graham kicking 3 goals in the GF in only his fifth game.
The Richmond way is having a stunning debut in the 2019 grand final after best on ground in the VFL grand final.
The Richmond way is Townsend chipping in for goals in a unsung forward line from a place where Hopper is from.
The Richmond way is Taranto excelling despites others saying not in the top 150.
So to me the Richmond way is about developing, hard work, resilience, overcoming obstacles and never giving up as well as doing the little things every player can to help their teammates win. When that is happening, the team is humming, great things can be achieved by the players sometimes
