Had a fantastic 2013 but totally agree that he won't be classed as band 1 compo if he leaves.

We'd be a big chance to get the spoon even if we beat Carlton so I bloody hope we do.
No-one thought Frawley would be classed as band 1 12 months ago, but the AFL did.

Regardless of the result, we're getting Shack. However, if we do loose and are granted a de facto PP in the form of Luenberger compensation (i.e. the Frawley rule), Weitering may well be up for grabs.
Kinda hope you guys get pick 1 and 2 just for teh lulz

You're right, he was clearly a Pick 2 player and should have netted you more, really. Ive seen the light.

Don't be a dick.

He was an AA key defender and rated one of Melbourne's best prospects and highly rated. You can be as smug as you want but don't try to rewrite history. Frawley was highly rated and considered one of the best young defenders in the game. His last year at Melbourne he was played as a forward and performed well which improved his value because of his versatility.

The fact that you're know talking about pick 2 just confirms to me that you're trolling. The compensation is tied to the round of the draft, as a tier 1 compo it meant that it could have been anything from pick 2 to pick 19.

Give it a rest, it's now boring

This is a tanking arms race of gargantuan proportions. Carlton bring in David Ellard, so Brisbane top that by bringing in Trent West. Carlton go one step fur I think Brisbane may be out of moves here, they already have all their other spuds in the side...

Are you talking about Trent West, the Geelong 2011 premiership ruckman who played 10 out of the first 11 games for Brisbane last year as their first ruckman before injuring his ACL forcing him to the sidelines for twelve months?

Strangely, if West didn't go down, Stefan Martin very well might not even be on an AFL list at the moment.

Does it really matter?

Both teams are rubbish and picks 1 + 2 to respective clubs is almost a foregone conclusion.

Brisbane want a key forward we want a key back, either way coming last or second last we will get our players

No, some other Trent West :thumbsu: the one who everyone bar a few Lions fans apparently realises is a very average player.

Do they? And what does "everyone bar a few lions fans apparently" base that on? I quite liked his Round 6 game last year when he had 14 disposals (9 kicks 5 hand balls), 5 marks, 39 hitouts and a goal. He didn't get as many disposals and hit outs in his first game for the Lions against eventual premiers Hawthorn but his three goals that game were quite handy.

Probably the fact that he's late in his career, returning from a long term injury, and only has a few decent games like that one that you can highlight. To each their own mate but let's just say I doubt you will find anyone outside of Brisbane who seriously rates West. Maybe a few overly loyal Cats fans.

returning from a long term injury,

Err yes. Said that. The lions are tanking are they, by playing him with Leuenberger out? With four rounds to go and with one of their ruckmen out, why wouldn't they play him, if he's ready to return from a knee injury?

and only has a few decent games like that one that you can highlight.

So West can play decent AFL football then.

You don't. And that's far from "anyone outside of Brisbane."

Solid player. Played in a premiership. 64 games. Bit injury prone. Playing him this weekend does not mean the Lions are tanking, as you claimed.

Okay, since it apparently wasn't obvious from context: that was a joke. If I actually thought you were tanking it would've been a lot more "this is awful, a sad moment in the history of a proud club", and lot less joking about David Ellard. Could a team captained by Tom Rockliff could even contemplate tanking? The guy couldn't tank if you broke half his ribs. And that's not an exaggeration, it's a physical thing that he's proven this year.

So, yes. I'm not genuinely asserting that playing West = tanking. Brisbane's situation is bad enough at the moment that he probably is the best option available for them anyway. But I'm very happy to assert that he is an average player. "Solid" is a decent enough word for it, yes. I'll happily await you finding me a significant number of non-Brisbane fans who disagree.
