Yeah, let's go back to the great old days of sexist, racist, homophobic jokes. Good times!

It's not hard to be inclusive and inoffensive.

Settle petal - there's a difference between being offensive and joking around

Settle petal? No need for condescension because you have a difference of opinion.
I'm assuming you've never heard the term 'casual racism' (etc). You might find something funny but it might be deeply offensive or hurtful to someone else. I'd rather live my life not hurting other people's feelings for the sake of a few 'jokes', and I don't really see how sexuality is funny anyway...but that's just me.

This is what shits me about society today - cant even joke around anymore!

That's about as narrow minded as it gets people.
Wonder what thylacine60 thinks about this.

As a person who suffers from anxiety, there are days when these sort of "jokes" cut alot deeper than what it can to other people.
We've moved on so much as a society, not sure why people still yearn for these bad old days.

Call me narrow minded all you like but as Subby said, it's all about context. I would never intentionally say anything to hurt anybody. That's the difference

Not Bluebelle, that's NOT the difference.
How do you know what sort of day the other person is having?
What you find unintentional could really hurt someone else.

Context or no context, people need to think before they speak.

Call me perceptive but I'll know whether the person I'm having a conversation with can take it as a joke or not. They'll be a mate and f I don't think/know they can then I won't joke. If I misread the situation and offend them, I'll apologise for it

I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry at this comment.
If you knew anything about mental illness you'd know that people tend to be very good at hiding it, just like I was.
There were days when my mates were giving it to me and all I wanted to do was find a corner and hide in it.

Your bolded comment is so far away from reality it is stunning.

Keep chasing.
You'll wear one down eventually

;)

You want to talk about offensive comments? I could've taken this post the wrong way. How do u know what day I was having yesterday?

My point is this: you may be perceptive enough to know what sort of mood your friend is in, so you make a joke, they laugh, everyone is happy. On an anonymous forum such as this, you don't know everyone who posts on here, so it's impossible to be perceptive enough to judge where the boundaries are. It is far easier (or should be) to avoid making potentially hurtful or offensive jokes, statements, etc, than it is to go into damage control later.

I know what you're saying but Subby was joking. It's like when people make short jokes towards HBF, it's a joke. People can see that it's a joke. HBF even takes the piss out of himself.

As I said earlier, if I do offend, I would always apologise because I'm not a malicious person.

This whole thing has been blown out of proportion IMO

Then you should have bought it up with me yesterday, rather than using it as a point scoring exercise today.

If he claims Walsh > Menz one more time I might just have to :p
Walsh > Menz
If I was sitting closer to him the other night I would have thrown him off level 3.....;)
Hahaha now I'm glad that we weren't sitting next to each other :D
Well he is a Sydney type
Now now, hard to criticize when you willingly live in Canberra :D

For what it's worth, women that love sport are mint. Women that love Carlton are even better ;)

If you offended me I would've. I'm just using it as an example of an innocent comment

Love your subject-changing work Jatzy!

Why do you think I ensured that Etsal and I were sitting between the two of you? :p

If HBF could have lifted me to throw me over, I would have been impressed! But smart thinking :D

Didn't even think of it to be honest. My bad!

Jatz , HBF --at our next catch up the two of you can sit together. Regardless of whether or not you want to
Awww man :( look what you've done Subby!
