I don't know why those faces. It is a good thing for a coaching shake up!!!
It's a massive shake up, one that typically happens with a backroom clear-out with a new coach, or an unsuccessful team. The Swans coaching team was settled, experienced and very successful.

I wouldn't say very successful. If that were the case, with our list and opportunities we would have won more premierships.

3 grand finals, 1 premiership, 3 semi-finals, 1 preliminary final
'11 - semi
'12 - premier
'13 - prelim
'14 - gf
'15 - semi
'16 - gf
'17 - semi

That's a hell of a lot better than most teams, only bettered by Hawthorn.

Successful definitely. Very successful, not. Success in AFL in reality is a measure of premierships. No one remembers semi-finalists, etc.....

In 40-50 years time, Swans fans will remember the last 15 years as the most successful in the clubs' history, enormous growth off the field and considerable growth and consistency on it.

The last 15 seasons
'03 prelim
'04 semi
'05 premier
'06 gf
'07 semi
'08 elimination
'09 ---
'10 semi
'11 semi
'12 premiership
'13 prelim
'14 gf
'15 semi
'16 gf
'17 semi

5 grand finals for 2 premierships
2 prelims
6 semis
1 elimination final

No other team comes close to matching the Swans in the last 15 years. Hawks have four grand finals, but have missed the finals quite a few times. Cats have 4 grand finals, missed the finals, been somewhat consistent. Lions have two grand finals. Eagles have three grand finals. Saints have 2 grand finals. Pies have 4 grand finals, 1 win.

No one cares/remembers loosing finalists. In the last 10 years we have 1 premiership, the same as Richmond/Dogs/Collingwood/etc.... That is what history will remember.

edit: The last 15 years we have 2, but again, all the finals you list mean nothing 40 years from now. What we will remember are the premierships.

Rather negative way of looking at things, considering the club was twice on the brink of non-existence, and had little to nothing going for it after the 30s.

I know when times are crap again that I'll reflect back on 2012, 2014 and 2016 fondly, despite the fact we sucked in '14. It's up to us fans to remember, who gives a shit about anyone else.

People remember that we are consistent finals performers though and think if you ask most neutrals what clubs they think of as very successful over the past ten years, i believe most would say Hawthorn, Geelong and us.
I personally would classify that as being a very successful club.

Do you think St Kilda will fondly reflect on the past years where they had one of the best ever undefeated streaks, regularly made it deep into finals, and played in several grand finals?

Or will they forever remember that they repeatedly ****ed up and failed to win when they had a great squad?

Have a look at their board and you'll get the answer pretty quickly.

I'm not talking about now, 5 years or even 10 years. I'm talking about 20 to 30 years down the track, when they're mediocre and having their turn at the bottom, like the Swans will inevitably have themselves.

I'm looking at it from the other perspective & just saying we most certainly haven't be unsuccessful for the past 20 odd years IMO.

Our most successful period in terms of consistently being in finals, growth off the field & so on. A few more premierships would be nice sure, but sometimes I think we need to sit back & really appreciate how lucky we are to follow this club in their most recent history.

No microwaving memberships, firing coach after coach, offield turmoil, wooden spoons... We have not been unsuccessful for almost 20 years now. That's a pretty bloody good spot to be in in our league I reckon!

We turn 1 this week - but we can't post the tweet! :(
We're running our own promotion that's very similar to BigFooty, so it's a bit of a possible cause of confusion with the Swans' board player sponsorship program.

Anyway, cake for us! You can have a nibble too! :D

If you land Kinnear I'd be interested to hear what he sees is the biggest difference between the expectations supporters have at trade time vs what clubs are actuslly trying to do.

Name the ep Trade Week Myth Busters.
Hopefully we'll have him on for about 30 minutes. It'll be pre-recorded, so we might have to interview him during the day and pad out the episode at night with more content.

Bloody spewing if Sam Murray actually ends up at Collingwood. The Swans might not rate him highly enough, but he has qualities I think the senior team can use.
