After living for a long period of time in both cities and now being back in Sydney, i am going to disagree in every aspect.

25 years in Sydney
10 years in Melbourne
Back in Sydney :thumbsu:

22 years in Sydney.
Personally I'd prefer to live in Sydney because I surf.
I used to waterski on the Hawkesbury and sail in the harbour.
That doesn't detract from my original statement that IMO Melbourne is a better people city than Sydney,
with it's great transport, shopping, entertainmaint and dining and of course access to football.

I just recently moved back to Sydney after 10 years in the back water. While that might be all good for the touring pleb once you get to experience the city first hand everything you mention is false. PT in melbourne is at breaking point atm. When i was living in Melbourne i was late every single day to work.

Since being in Sydney i was late once.

When i moved to melbourne i was excited about football exposure. Towards the end of my time in melbourne i had massive football fatigue from being exposed to it 24 7.That might be great for the first few years but heck if you are not used that sort of in your face saturation well watch out.

Thats why i have such a dislike for Victorians, the media and admin. The code itself i have no real issues with.

There is no more or less to do in Sydney than there is to do in Melbourne. In fact given how much more prevalent rain is in Sydney, it might actually be possible to do more in Melbourne. People should not confuse the average Sydney-sider's apathy (with regards to almost everything) as an indication that they have so much more to do.

I often wonder at this argument Sydneysiders make about their lack of attendance at sporting events (notably at NRL).
Their major point of their sporting apathy, of course, being that the city's public transport infrastructure is dire, yet this doesn't seem to be much of a hindrance at the "so many things to do in Sydney" argument.
Sydney people: How do you guys get to these "so many things to do" events in and around the city?

Why can't victorians accept that Sydney people don't give two hoots about watching sports? Why is it such a massive crime to many Victorians?

I guess Sydneysiders laugh and wonder why Melbourne people love watching sport so much?

Actually Sydneysiders watch NRL but attend AFL.
Melbournians attend football.

Football is what is played around the world with a round ball.

Come on challenge me numpty.

You said it.
You abuse people and football - simple.
Let's talk about football - eh?
Let's hear about what you like about football.

.

You are reaching desperation stakes. Avoiding everything else and trying quote me out of context. Thats what ACA TT and news limited papers do.

Judging by your grammar, punctuation, your use of the misquote to take things out of context, you're an avid reader and watcher.

You can't answer what you like about footy because you don't like it, right? Attacking his grammar in an effort to avoid the question, you really are a shithouse troll.

Since you love a technicality.

The Laws of Australian Football were codified in 1859. Association Football wasnt codified until 1863. Rugby Union was codified as early as 1845. Soccer is the LAST of the codes to have been codified (excluding clear rugby derivatives Rugby League and American Football). In addition Gaelic football wasnt codified until 1882.

All codes except Gaelic derive their rules and roots from english school varieties, and all are equally entitled to be referred to as football.

You don't see more than 5 games live a year. You don't get the right to comment on what some Sydney-siders do with their money since you live in a completely different state. How many games do you go to that don't involve the Swans?

And also, calling them out on our board is one thing, calling them out on the mainboard is just pathetic.

I have every right this is a forum.. Most Vic fans don't go to opposition games unless finals, and yeah I said most..The fact I am from Vic and have supported our club since I was born, as have my kin for generations, I kept supporting us even after being railroaded interstate even though there are many more 'local' teams as some of you Sydney flogs put it when arguing buying a GWS membership because they are local?? Our memberships are taking a hit, the GWS fan base could be ours yet you think its strange I find that irritating?? FFS you have no idea of football culture. You rave on about wanting football culture to develop in Sydney, the irony is in your argument buying a membership and supporting both Sydney teams to develop the culture.. You have no idea. How many Carlton supporters you think have Collingwood memberships? Or Essendon, Hawthorn, Geelong etc???

whats that got to do with anything?

The implication is that if you were a football fan you'd make the occassional appearance on the club boards and talk about the odd game of football. I don't need that subtley.
Anyone with a signiture "I hate Victorians" and talks about anything but football has no interest in football.

Nice assumptions there norm.

What's the challenge?
Association Football is played around the world with a round ball.

.

No it's collectively known as football around the world. Sucks to be a narrow minded norm that has to use semantics in a way to disguise bitterness. Do you enjoy the round ball code? Fan?

Actually there are quite a few supporters of other clubs who in recent years have bought memberships for both North and the Bulldogs when they've been struggling.

Do they go to the games wearing the other teams colours? Make banners for them etc? Missing our own games being played at the same time? Not that you are expected to know but thats where my original comments on the Swans board that SM has called me out on came from.

for the record Im not saying the aren't nice people, in fact I like them a lot.. but don't lecture me on my views about giving your club 100% support.
